Brindle Boxer Found Near Death

Near where we live in Mississippi a tip was called in to the local sheriff. A deputy ventured out to this particular location, and happened upon a large square ring that had a tarp tied around the trees closeby. They also found several pit bulls tied to something; there was a makeshift treadmill, and medication. Apparently, this was a dog fighting ring. Unfortunately, most of the dogs had to be put down because they could never be socialized again. I guess sick people are everywhere.

I am sooooo glad to see that Fraser is doing so great. I sure hope that he goes to a great home.

Yeeeaaaahhhh Frasier! This is once again proof of the wonderful boxer personalities! A lot of other breeds may not be as forgiving of us. I wonder with all the great care that he is getting if he even remembers what they did to him? I sure hope not.

May he have a life filled with couch naps, walks in the park, chasing squirrels and plenty of kisses from his new family.

For those who havent heard - a woman was arrested in this case!!!
Melissa Cere 23 of Manchester was charged with felony abuse of an animal.
I hope they throw the book at her - even though she is cooperating .

Thank goodness she was caught! I just hope that they throw the book at her next month when she goes to court! I wish I could get my hands on her.

On a better note - it is great that Frasier is recovering and doing well. Thank goodness for the women who found and rescued him.

On a parenting board that I'm a member of, one of the ladies posted this story because it was her brother-in-law's girlfriend that did this. :mad: From what this member said, her BIL couldn't afford the medication for the dog anymore, so he asked his girlfriend to take the dog to the SPCA. Instead she committed this horrible crime. She apparently turned herself in to police, but hasn't told them why she did this (as if there could be any real reason). Also, the member said that this woman went out and bought another dog that same day for $600. Sick, sick, sick.

It's just too bad that the punishment that can be meted out for this crime isn't severe enough to reflect the cruelty that this "person" perpetrated on this poor living creature. The laws against animal cruelty must be strengthened. What a warped, twisted mind. It scares me that there are people like this out there, living and walking among us.

It is great that there is some closure in this case with a person being charged. But, I'm sure justice will not be served the way we would like - purely for the fact that she maid bail at $300 and $5000 personal recognizes (?).

Does the woman realize what she did? Does she realize what outrage she created? I hope she gets more than she can possibly imagine - real jail time.
