Re: And you know what??

According to her SIL she has two children, ages 4 & 1. Poor kids...I am waiting to hear the judges verdict.

That is a VERY, VERY scary thought. I can only hope if they don't already have children, they decide not to. I'm sorry but people like that need to be burned at the stake. ( i still can't get over the plastic ties around the mouth of that other dog, uh, it makes me sick):(

As despicable and absolutely disgusting as these people are, I think burning at the stake is barbaric. We need to punish them severely and re-educate. Otherwise we will have re-offenders out there after they have served their term in jail. There has to be a way to inculcate some compassion for weaker beings in their hearts. You have to find a way to break the chain so it doesn't happen again, and they don't teach their kids that animals are disposable bits of personal property but deserve love and care. Burning at the stake for animal abuse, however warranted you feel it to be; then what do you do for a murderer?

Concord District Court
32 Clinton St.
Concord, NH 03301
Attn: Clerk's Office

Re:Melissa Cere, 175 Boynton St., Manchester, NH; charged with animal abuse and cruelty

Dear Clerk of the Court:

I have been following the aforementioned case through media reports and am appalled at the horrific abuse Ms. Cere inflicted upon her pet. From the reports, it appears she has no value for another life. I pray she is dealt with swiftly and harshly. Ms. Cere deserves no mercy as she has shown no mercy to Frasier. Please consider the maximum penalty allowed under New Hampshire law. I also humbly suggest Ms. Cere be banned from having the privilege of ever owning another pet. Further, I do not feel it inappropriate to have child protective services review her treatment of her children. If she is capable of inflicting this kind of torture on what should have been a beloved pet, what is she doing behind closed doors to her children?

Thank you for your consideration of this matter.

Oooh ... that's good. Wish I thought of that before I sent my letter. I seem to remember reading somewhere that people who abused their pets were more likely to abuse their kids or significant other rather than people who didn't abuse their pets. Of course, this sounds like a no-brainer to me ... Anyway, does anybody know of any studies about this? It might be cool if we could quote passages from such studies in our letters, especially if it comes from, say, Cornell Vet School or something.

I just got off the phone with a woman in the criminal case division at Concord District Court. In my opinion she didn't seem too thrilled that I had called or that I planned to write. I don't know if she didn't get it or if I wasn't explaining myself properly. Basically, I was hoping for the name of the Clerk of Court. The woman pretty much said that she couldn't tell me not to write but she seemed confused by why I would want to have a letter attached to a case that had nothing to do with me. To be honest, it kind of took the wind out of my sails and gave me the impression that letters wouldn't make the slightest difference. Anyone know any different? I'm just kind of disappointed right now.

well i think we should all...

write letters and send them in. They'll have to notice when they get hundreds of letters regarding this case, especially when they are from all over the world. I think we should start up a rally to give these people the justice they so deserve. I'm writing mine tonite and I advise anyone who cares about the well-being of boxers to do the same. Someone has got to put an end to this. Maybe if we all join efforts here, we can make a difference for not only our BOXER BABIES, but all animals for that matter.
JOIN US!!! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!!

( wow, i feel so empowered right now)

I'm not giving up I'm just wondering if the letters will make any kind of a difference in the case or will they just be seen as a pain in the behind to the clerk?

Even if the clerk feels that it is a pain in the behind, she/he will always remember this case and the outrage it has caused. Plus, she/he will still have to do their job and attach it to the file for the judge to look at when he makes his decision.

Oh well......

I believe if enough letters are recieved, it might make a difference. It can't hurt either way.
