Breed that gets a long with boxers?

We have a mini poodle. He's 14 pounds and both him and Ms. Ali get along great. She's 75 pounds and guess who's the boss. It's not her. They're great little dogs, hardy and playful and very very intelligent. The only problem we have is that he barks at everything and of course he trained her because he was here first and she learned from him. But my last mini poodle didn't bark at all. My little guy loves children and is great with other dogs. He doesn't shed at all which is wonderful. I'm working on the barking and since he's so easy to train I should have started long ago. It's probably going to be a year if not two years, but I'm really leaning towards a mini poodle or maybe a mixed with poodle.

I'm having the opposite right now. Roxy is 5 months old and she will only bark to be let back in the house, if her toy falls under the couch or if the vacuum cleaner is running. If a person knocks on the door she wags her tail and goes running.
If there was one single time to bark that would be the one for me. Hopefully she'll event start barking as the door bell rings

anybody have a PWD? The more and more I read about them the more they seem like a fit. I was at a website taking a personality test and the boxer came in number 5, which I can see why it made the top 10 list of dogs for me. To my suprise the poodle was on the list of dogs that are not recommended for me. The PWD was actually number 16, but I don't know anything about the PWD except it's size, it's on the list of hypoallergenic dogs and the president has one.

hi! we have a 7 yr old jack that we got at less than a year and at the time had a 2 yr old boxer . we got the jack to keep our boxer company also . they became the best of friends and did everything together,including going trail riding with us in the allegeny mts. every summer. the jack can take whatever the boxer can dish out!! some of the play sessions the boxer would roll over and let the jack play chew on her, just to get a breath! but the jack we have is quite mellow except when there are small critters around like chipmonks ect. we lost our 9yr old boxer last august to a heart defect. 3 wks later we got a new boxer puppy and after the first couple of days of the jack ignoring her and snapping her away they are now the very best of friends just like before. in fact the jack has taught the pup bite inhibition and how to go out the dog door how to play nicely and how to share toys. they do everything together. some jacks are a handful but if you pick a calm pup out of a litter they can be a wonder dog very loyal and smart as a whip to train. alot of boxer breeders i've dealt with in the past have bred both breeds theres one in southern ohio who does both, as well as shows horses. jacks and boxers are both great around horses

We've been going back and forth between the miniature poodle and miniature schnauzer. Poodles seem to be great dogs, except the worst with separation anxiety and being left home alone at times is common for me since I work and so does my wife. miniature schnauzer seems great and unlike the poodle was listed as one of the very best dogs that can be left home alone, yet the problem with them is even though they are listed as one of the best watch dogs, most people complain about their constant barking.

My girl has her best play sessions with a French Bulldog, Rosalita. Rosi has so much energy, is tough, and just loves to play. She just acts as if she's a 'miniture boxer'! I don't know anything about the shedding of this breed though.

I'm really shocked, because I saw a special on breed all about it on french bulldogs and they were listed as the laziest dogs that actually disliked doing any kind of physical activities so I was kind of shocked to hear you say that she plays with your boxer.

We have a pug and a boxer. Great combo. Mr. B our pug has little big dog syndrome so it is really funny to watch him boss our 70 lb. boxer around.

I agree with one of the first posts....stay clear of herding breeds. They give nothing but grief to Sally & Sam. My brother has a lab/great dane mix & he does great with Sal, Sam & Butters.

I suppose it just goes to show that it really all comes down to the individual dog at the end of the day! Although her owner said in the house she is pretty quiet and sleeps a lot, but I think thats true of most dogs. Once she's in the park though she's crazy :D
