Hi - I have been trying for a week to sign up and I was finally successful...... Last night I was reading about Bo, an 8 year old boy listed under Northeastern Area Adoptions, who was recently put in a shelter and separated from his family and he cried "all night". I was so upset for Bo that I sent an email to the contact to see how he is. I'm not in a position to take another boxer now. Anyway, I better stay out of the adoption forums because I just make myself sick over the boys and girls that need homes. If I could I would take them all. I know that my fellow boxer lovers ( & animal lovers) will understand........Anyway, enough of that. I live in Central Jersey and have 2 boxers (as well as a young son and husband!!) My neighbor was a boxer breeder and she suprised me with a flashy fawn boy, 10 weeks old, with papers. He was just precious!! His name is Hunter. I have to tell you that when I got him, I was going through one of the worst times in my life----at night I would lay in bed and play with the puppy---and that dog made me laugh no matter what!!! It didnt matter how bad things were, I smiled when Hunter played with me, or when he would give me one of his goofy-boxer faces or "play growls". In spite of everything falling apart around me, I was laughing!!! I knew I had something special. When Hunter was older, the breeder next door had more boxer pups and I was very lucky. I got to see the mating, the whelping, what needed to be done at the vet, Mama's special requirements, got to bottle feed them, clean them, play with them and see them go to good homes. It was just a wonderful experience for our whole family. Well, she suprised me again and gave me a white boxer, one of Hunter's brothers. (Same dam and sire) We named him Rocco and he was so little, he was all over Hunter like a little white maggot, thats the only way I can describe it!! I was concerned about the finances but I took the 2nd boxer. It hasnt all been a bed of roses, but those dogs are a joy! My husband spent alot of time training them and they are such good boys, they dont leave our property in the front yard, even when other dogs come down the street. They love eachother so much, too. Watching them play gives me such joy! Theres nothing like two boxers playing and boxing together! People are amazed at their energy and how vocal they are. Also, they are so devoted. They barely leave my side, especially the white one. We call him the white shadow. I'm deaf in one ear and they help me out alot when people knock on the door or if there is someone outside. If I have to drive to the store and they are outside with my husband, they sit at the edge of the property and watch the car leave, and watch for me till I come home. They do the same thing if my husband rides his bike. If anyone is wondering whether to get a boxer, I'd say you would never be sorry. I'm so glad I found this website. I love it. The picture gallery is just great. I'm looking forward to meeting you all. If there is anyone in Central NJ who loves boxers as much as I do, please let me know! I would love to get in touch with someone who might possibly be able to mentor me. I just want to learn more about the breed, where there might be some shows in my area.....and just become more knowledgeable.
