Boxers = Ugliest Dog Ever!

I get a lot of "she is so ugly she is cute" and "a face only a mother could love" comments. I have not had anyone come right out and call my babies ugly, But I am sure I would have said something like "your face isn't too easy on the eyes either"...but then my mouth totally bypasses my brain a lot.

That's what I was trying to say, instead of the "blurb" coming out!! My brain gets left out of the picture a LOT too!!!

I get that when I am out with Deuce. However in myneighborhood I'm GLAD that people are scared of him.

The other day I was walking my 2 and came across what can only be described as a pleb, it asked me "What kind of dogs are those then? Did you bite their tails off with your teeth?" I can't type my response...there are some real idiots out there! :mad:

I just don't get some people. If a person can't find something kind to say, he or she ought to just keep their traps shut. I just returned from a road trip to Florida, in which I took ABBY with me. Everytime that we stopped, someone was mentioning what a pretty and well behaved Boxer she was. It never does hurt a person to say something nice to another. Maybe it's just that they are incapable of doing so.

with regards to the "is that a pit bull" remark....

Petey's ears were cropped very short by his previous owner. People see the short cropped ears and instantly they have this anger towards him. Some are brave enough to actually ask if he is a pitbull and once I tell them no, then everything is ok. He is a beautiful dog with structure and coat, looks NOTHING like a pitbull at all, but people see those short ears and instantly have this thing against him. They look at him crossly and utter sneers under their breath and it drives me nuts because Petey is the most harmless, scaredy-cat, dog you have ever met with the most wonderfully large heart full of character.

It just seems as though your average everyday "joe schmoe" doesn't care to have knowledge about anything. They just want to assume everything, regardless of whether or not they are correct.

Its just amazing some of the comments you hear that are so outlandish its ridiculous.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he was either drunk or can't see very well I used to get so offended when people told me that Beau "has a face only a mother could love". Well, I certainly do love his smooshy face but I'm not the only one! I get compliments on my baby all the time. I just give a sarcastic chuckle now when I hear it and walk away. There are plenty of dogs that I think are quite unattractive but I'd never tell a dog's owner that. It's just rude!

That's sad! I think Boxers are beautiful. I probably would have said something like, "Well she might not be your idea of pretty but at least she doesn't say anything rude" haha

Its too bad you didn't him that he was the ugliest man ever!!!! I get very hurt when people don't love my dogs as much as I do or have something bad to say about them

I can't believe how rude people are...I agree if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all! I had this happen to me at work as well. It was even before we got Rolen. I was telling how we were getting a puppy all excited and somebody I work with, asked what breed. I said boxer and they responded "oh those ugly things!" Some people just don't have any class. :(
