We have 2 skin kids aged 24 and 19, who we love very much.
Then along came Bella now two and a half, she loves having an older brother and sister to spoil her as much as we do. :)

I grew up with a sister and brother 10 and 12 years younger than me. I had my fill of children early and said I am never having kids just boxers! Well, I got married and one thing led to another and I ended up having a daughter. I will be truthful, in the first 4-6 month of her life I spent many days wondering what people thought were so much fun about babies. I loved her alot but she was soooooo much work -- more work than any boxer I have ever had. Now that my daughter is 2 -- I can see why people say their kids are so much fun! Yes it becomes easier as they get older -- until they reach the teens I hear! There is not a boxer out there that could replace my daughter. I still love my boxers but am glad I made the decision to have a child. I do believe that skin kids are more work than boxers -- you can't ever put them in a crate and leave on your own -- even though there are days I think about it HA HA!! Another plus of a skin child is that a boxer only lasts 10-12 years -- my daughter, god willing, will be with me many many years and I will get to enjoy seeing what she becomes. I look forward to it. But overall, to each his own and I would never criticize anyones decision to be parents to skin kids or not.

Paige you have a long time to think about having kids. Not something to worry about now. if the time is right you will know. I have 3 kids, 1 boxer, and some other animals. As much as I love my boxer i couldn't imagine not having children. I know everyone is different and children is not right for everyone but take time to decide what is right for you.

Is this a typo or were you married at 16?!?!

I'm 29 hubby is 32 we've been together 9 years and are not planning skin-kids. Being both teachers and Aunt & Uncle to 18 kids (yes 18!) we really don't want them. Please don't take it the wrong way those who have skin-kids. Some people aren't ment to have them. At least we know now and not after the fact.

I pretty much knew since Jr. High school that I didn't want children. I was lucky enough to find a man that didn't want any more either (2nd marriage for both). While his 15 yr old daughter lives with us now, my 4 dogs are my children. My hubby even tells people that they're my children.

I wouldn't have it any other way!

I just had to chime in here. I'm 41 and have been married to my hubby (he's 44) for 10 years. We wanted kids, but that didn't seem to be in the cards for us. Our "kids" are Maxwell, my 11 year old Rottie and of course, our baby girl, SammiDoodles, who is 2 1/2 (already!!). We love them with all we've got, and are retiring to Florida in about 10 months. Skin-kids would've been wonderful but our life-plans are now going into a new frontier, and our babies are part of it. Sammi's looking forward to the in-ground pool!;)

Minette... nice thread!

Well, I'm 34 and hubby is 38. We never wanted kids... which is why we have our Boxer girl, Nikki. She truly is our "daughter", and we wouldn't have it any other way. I personally think it's easier to have Boxers as kids. Once they're trained, they listen so well & don't talk back, other than the little whining here & there, lol! :D
