Hi Guys I'm New!!

I have never owned a boxer before... Adopting on SUNDAY! But I read this book... "boxers for dummies," I don't know what to say... It didn't really hit home for me. Even without the boxer, I kinda already knew what the upcoming sentences were going to about. It's basically- logic. I have 2 jack russells, and maybe there Hodini minds have curved my mind into knowing what they're next move is going to be... I dunno
But I am looking for a better read! Any suggestions, That practical dog listener sounds good... but they don't sell it in the US.

This is all we took from it! :D There are many more great books to have out there! First do a search here for books. The dog Listener is great though not breed specific.

The Practical Dog Listener can be purchased from Amazon UK, using American credit cards, etc. It will be deliered to the US and you pretty quickly. I ordered mine from them online and received it in about a week. We are really approaching a "world without borders" via the internet. Go for it.

I am a new boxer owner & have Boxers for Dummies. Another book that was recommended to me is Good Owners, Great Dogs, by Brian Kilcommons. Excellent book.

Brian Kilcommons' book has a lot of good general information. However, it is based on outdated compulsion training - just an FYI before you buy.

I peeked in it at store...

and I am planning on buying it next trip to pet store. I didn't buy it because I wanted a book with some pictures in this time. I just bought
"Training Your Boxer" by Joan Hustace Walker (A Barron's book).

We got it...

Before we got our baby, we went out and got this book. It taught us SO much, not only about the dog, but their HISTORY! I would reccomend it to anyone. Like previous posts, it helped us know a good breeder when we saw them, and what to expect out of our baby. So far, so good!!!!

We bought this about a week after picking up our baby and I wish I had read it first (would have changed how we picked her out). However, it has been very helpful in getting dh to understand her better. My favorite line in the book is the way she describes a boxer, something along the lines of how they are like Jello held together with rubber bands! The authors states having boxers around their whole life and there is a lot we learned from it and still are learning.
