Boxers - Extra $$$ Spent

This is one of the best threads ever! Stella is also my first girl dog, so she has to have a complete coat wardrobe--pink fur coat, coat for when it's raining, coat for when it's just chilly, and coat for when it's cold and raining. She has to have a special purple collar with matching lead and harness, and I've ordered a purple one with rhinestones on it! (I can't wait to pick it up). I keep looking at all the new clothing and accessories in case there's something that's just too cute to pass up. I'm also thinking of painting her toenails if she'll sit still long enough to let me!

Thanks to Boxerworld, I check every dog food package for ingredients, and agonize over which food and treat to give her, how much, how often, etc. I never even look at how much they cost.

She's been to Puppy classes, two rounds of obedience classes, focused attention class, and is now in beginning agility class. She's signed up for a distraction class next!

She got six new toys for Christmas, including two babble balls, her own stocking with her picture on it, and a new fleece blankie to snuggle in, and I felt like she didn't get enough.

I'm thinking of upgrading my car from a CRV to a Pilot to make sure we have enough room for Stella, all her "stuff," and Jack.

Finally, I'm looking for a new house and I won't even consider one without a big yard!

P. S. I get up at 5:00 every morning instead of 6:00 to take Stella for a walk!

Thank you everyone! Now I don't feel like some kind of nut! I'm sure a lot of you remember that when we were kids (1970's), dogs were kept outside, tied to a doghouse. How times have changed. Rocky sleeps with us (my DH is always saying he wants to trade in our queen for a king), he has a toy box, is always on the couch (usually lying on my lap!), gets a million kisses a day, comes with us everywhere we go, goes shopping at Petco, and about a hundred other things I can't think of right now. Rocky also has 2 families! My son bought him after high school graduation. He took Rocky everywhere, including his girlfriend's home. Her parents fell in love with Rocky too. So know even tho my son and his girlfriend have been apart for 3 years, Rocky still spends a lot of time at her parent's home! My son is away at college and the girl has moved out of state so now the "grandparents" have joint custody!! It works out great. Rocky never has to be alone. He has no preference - he's excited to see any/all of us. Top that!

My bf is always giving me a hard time because I shop more for the puppy than anything else. I have also purchased a new SUV so he can travel more comfortably and go anywhere with us. I never thought that I would buy a vehicle for a dog before Diesel entered my life.

I feel so much better since I found this site!! It took us about two months after we got shula to buy the king-size bed-dh and I are both pretty small in stature, but the babies need to sleep sideways comfortably! though we have no kids yet, visitors expect to see a herd of 2year olds based on the toy selection. I just spent $150 at petco and 99% of that was on new toys to replace the ones that Lucy has de-squeaked! Granny has to come and babysit when we need to be out of town, just a dogsitter would never do! And at this point we have decided that everything tastes better with boxer hair in it!

You know what I think? Now that the subject of extra money spent is being talked about and I'm in the same boat with everyone else. I think I'll try talking ABBY into getting a summer job. At least that way she could earn her own money to spend it on what she needed and wanted. And just maybe, pitch in a little to help me out. You know, kind of returning the favor type of deal. Ahh, I might as well forget that. She'd probably get canned the first day for sleeping too much or farting out loud when the boss was on phone.

Every month I look at my visa bill and see how much has been spent on Maggie and shake my head! And it doesn't include everything.

She has never been left alone. She goes to day care when we are at work. If I am going out (family functions, meet with friends) Peter refuses to go unless Maggie is invited also.

We were at the vet (again) on Saturday. Last week there was a new dog collar. Don't even mention the treats.

Her toy box is overflowing. She has a new bed. I do more Maggie laundry then for us. She definitely has a healthier diet than us. We even have friends who had us over for dinner and ensured that the meat dish kept Maggie in mind - she loved the bones for weeks!!

I don't think that I have taken a picture of anyone other than Maggie since she arrived on July 1st unless they were in the pic with her.

The first thing we talk about in the morning is .... Maggie. The last thing we talk about at night is .... Maggie.

I like the idea of a summer job. Maybe I can rent Maggie to people for hugs and kisses and wiggles!

we just got our first boxer 6 weeks ago brick. my wife and i always have been german shepard people but a couple years ago a co-worker told me about his boxer and how mean he was. when i went to meet him he told me to not go in his yard. the boxer told me also but in i went anyways telling him i was boss. he took one stab at me adn i let him know i was not scared. my wife did the same a few weeks later. to this day my wife and i and his owner are the only ones he wont try to attack. he is a great dog-- he just dont do people. well this dog convinced my wife that when we got a house a boxer was a must. so now we have 16 week old brick and15 week old brock the german shepard. i will always own one of each as the boxer is equal to my shepard. something i never thought possibile. brick is my baby, my cuddler, my mouthy boy my everything. people jus go nuts when i take the pair to petco or petsmart. two "aggressive" breeds of dog being the biggest sweathearts u can imigane. how lucky we are to have our spoiled brick. boxers rule

i'm guilty of spoiling our two as well. they have beds in every room, a lounge in the entertainment area and beds for them there too, toys, toys toys, even for xmas this year our friends bought our fur kids a pressie as we buy for their kids and dont have any of our own yet.

holidays if we can't take the dogs or the inlaws can't have them then we don't go - my hubby is actually flying out tomorrow to go to dubai for 2 days and then to Austria for 2wks skiing with his parents and 2 brothers (inlaws paid airfares and accom for the 3 boys to go - dil or gf's had to pay their way) i dont' ski so i opted to have jewellery from Dubai instead of going but the main truthful reason is i didn't want to leave the dogs and you can forget putting them in a kennel - cant with Tigger anyway (health reasons) so hubby gets the ski holiday and i get to stay home with the kids.

Woo hoo, I am not crazy. Zoe and Flash eat better than me, they know when I come home with a Target bag, there will always be toy inside for them. ( How do the know it is a TARGET bag?) I never even mention how much the vet was. They rule my life. If somebody comes by that does not like them or just dogs for whatever reason, that person can go. This is Zoe and Flash's house. The list goes on but they are so spoiled, what's the harm, they are well behaved.

If I had my way around our house, Moab would absolutely sleep in our bed, even if it meant upgrading to a king. He'd be allowed on the couch with me instead of just our chair, etc. I can't help but want to go to Petsmart and buy him new toys. My co-workers have got to be sick of hearing about him in conversation. The list just goes on and on. We have two cats and while I love them to death and they're very affectionate, boxer love is just a whole different deal!

Glad to know I'm not the only one who's gone completely off my rocker over by boxer!
