I am another obsessive one. My dogs definately eat a better balanced diet that the humans here, they have tons of toys that never get played with because they have their favorites. But you know, you have to buy another toy to see if they will like it better

My house is decorated with boxers, I check ebay about everyday to see if there is anything new that I might want.

Our schedule is built around the dogs, I spend more time stuffing kongs and making treats for the pups than I do making supper for us. We need a bigger bed so we aren't so crammed at night but even though we are smooshed, we make it work because the pups CAN NOT sleep on the floor.

And to top it all off, I have an appointment tomorrow to get my very first tattoo...what else would I get besides a boxer?

Oh, dont feel embarrased. You have all kinds of friends on here with the same problem! They are just so addictive and all you can do is think about them.

haha. that is SO me!! When i go food shopping, I am constantly looking for yummy things to fill the kong with, checking out the meat department for sales, and going down the doggie section to check out the toys. DH says i have to chill on the amount of toys I buy but i can't help it. My favorite thing is how excited Tyler gets when I give him a new toy (which has turned into a weekly thing) I justify it by saying that I will donate them to the local shelter bc he gets sick of each toy after about one week. We also plan to get a new car so that Tyler has enough room in the back seat. I think they give us so much love that we feel the need to give it back in any way we can! I love this thread and i can't wait to show DH!!

Oh my, all of the above are so true. Rocky has blankies in almost everyroom to snuggle on, we also plan our vacations with him. We too have a trailer or stay only in hotels that allow pets. We use to race a lot when Rocky was a puppy and he went with us EVERYWHERE!!

I got a kick out of reading this post. Soooo true!! All of it:) I am leaning towards thinking it's a Boxer thing. I have friends that spoil there dogs, but not like this. We were at my Parents for dinner tonight and my Mom said "what is it about Boxers that captures our hearts like this" ( they have a Boxer too) I have all the same problems, can't wait to get home from work to see them, we go out and were gone for like 1/2 an hour and I say, " I miss my babies" to my Hubbie and he says " already! " Fourteen years ago we upgraded to the king size bed, bought the camper, bigger car when we got a third dog. Well, thats why I like it here. Im completely at home :)

This post is too funny! I have only had Sexter since the first week of Dec but we already have her ruined! She has more toys than I did growing up! My husband and are talking about the king size bed too. I thought it was just us! Well its good to know that I am not the only person owned by a boxer...cause she does own me!

First of all, HI everyone! I've been absent for a while due to school and work.

Anyway, to answer the original question of "What makes Boxers so different?" I'd like to offer my 2 cents. :)

While most people become attached to their pets, no matter what the species/breed, I have to agree that there is something different between Boxers and their owners. To me, it seems that the little extra something that makes us fall in love and become so attached to them is that they are very "human-like" as far as their qualities. They are a very sensitive breed and one whose facial expressions and mannerisms are able to convey much emotion. I think it makes us think of them more as another person and not just a dog. I know I do.

That's just my opinion, I could be wrong. :)

There definitely IS something about the Boxer breed! They just become family members and the money thing just goes out the window:)

We haven't bought a bigger bed yet but dh sleeps on the couch alot!!!!! I think I spent just as much at Christmas on the fur kids as the skin kids. Last year Foreman got a cake but not the skin kids for his birthday and boy I still hear about it. I have to go on BW everyday to see what everyone's boxer is doing. My vet bills are higher because I go for no reason better safe then sorry!!! My dogs have a toy box and has more toys then some kids I know. I stay home more now to be with them don't want them to be left alone!! Not to mention the food they are on better then any food any other dog I have owned. Yeah I am under the boxer spell!!! But I have also never been loved by dogs before either!!!

Ditto...minus the kids, none yet in our family...just our little girl Leila.

I agree 100%. I asked my husband why our other dogs were pets and why our Boxers are like furry kids and his response was....

"You know how you look at different species of monkeys and they look like monkeys but sometimes you see a monkey and it seems almost human? That's what Boxers look like. They have so many expressions. And their eyes, when they look at you, it's almost like a person looking at you."

His answer made sense to me!
