I am currently looking for a boxer puppy, but have never owned a boxer before. Everyone says that they drool all the time. I was just wanting to know that if I keep the dog inside, they do not drool as bad right? I am getting married Sept. 14 and have got my finace' pretty much talked into getting a boxer pup. She is asking me how much they drool, and I told her that some drool worse than others, and depending on if it is real hot outside. Is this information right?

None of my boxers have ever been been big droolers - they will drool when they are hot, or when the have just had water (and sometimes when I am making their meals ;) ), but even then it's never been a big deal. I just wipe mouths and it's taken care of. Boxers are *not* big droolers like Mastiffs and St. Bernards.

:)

There are several posts on the board about this issue--if you do a search you can arm yourself with a ton of examples of non- or only slightly-drooly boxers! Like Cubbys' dogs, mine is not a big drooler either. He is a sloppy drinker and sloshes a bunch of water out of the bowl, but it's water, not drool. You're not getting yourself into a Turner and Hooch situation--boxer drool, in my experience, is more like froth. Dempsey J. gets frothy when he exercises in the heat. I have heard of very few boxer households with drool all over the walls and furniture.

Welcome to Boxerworld, and congratulations on your upcoming wedding and (perhaps) your new pup! You'll find many helpful members here to help you through all the stages of puppyhood and beyond.

I am asked this question often

My two do not drool unless they are hot, or after drinking water. They are very sloppy water drinkers.

Having said that..... I must respond with a question for you. What do you think of a spray of snot in your face? My boxers have sneezed and snorted in my face more than I can count! Let us not discount the BIG, WET, SLOBBERY kisses they give anytime they are near you. I don't have one window in my house that doesn't have nose prints and smudges. I have to mention this, because some people view these habits as a bad thing. Boxer lovers view these as cute boxer traits.
Who needs an alarm clock when you have a good morning face spray? That will wake you up in the morning! LOL:D

Molly is only 5 months old, and is my first boxer, but as of yet she is not a drooler at all.

Scrapper's Mom

Boxer Insane
Welcome to BW -
No, Scrapper does not drool either! But, he does fart a lot, audibly, too and they are real killers. And he is a messy water drinker, leaving puddles under his dish. Also, you have to wipe big eye goobers off in the morning, more so when he was a puppy, but still now as well. However, none of that matters, he is just such a big lovebug, we all adore him.lovicon

Like all the other boxers.. Sadie only really drools when she is hot, drinks water or has "begger bubbles" while eating something. Just keep a papertowel or "drool rag" handy in case your pup is like some boxers, like Sadie :D Good luck! and welcome to BW!!:)

Completely Boxer Crazy
Clara doesn't drool unless after drinking or being outside in the heat, but I do agree with Cynthia...gotta love those snot sprays and sneezes. And of course let's not forget about boxer gas

Saying all that though, boxers are the greatest and these traits do just make them cuter....well maybe not the gas

Super Boxer
No drools here either. Hershey is really dry-mouthed. Again, a sloppy drinker, but ya can't have it all, ya know? He will "drip" if I pull out a treat he likes or "bubble" like the others have mentioned. We're lucky...he even has a very short tongue that's not always hanging out everywhere ;) He will however, also snort us and boy can he clear a room with his farts...but that's not what you asked about, is it? (Don't tell your fiance about the farts...just let it be a surprise -- TRUST US!)
