I have an issue with my two boxers. I have had Jake for a little over a year, and we jus adopted Eva 2 weeks ago. There is the typical jealousy of the new dog from Jake. Since we have had her there have been a few scuffles over bones mainly Jake being the aggressor when Eva got near his bone while he was chewing. We were able to seperate them pretty quick, but last night was really bad. Jake was chewing his bone and Eva sniffed it, and it was on. This was the most vicious I have seen Jake react to her getting near him, she in turn fought back and we had an all out brawl in our livingroom. My wife was trying to seperate them before I got there. I had to hold Jake against the wall while I pushed Eva back to get them to calm down. We have attempted to put them in their crate while they chew but when we do that they just sit and do not chew. Any advice on how we can prevent the boxing would be great.

Just curious but are you giving them real bones (not nyla or fake)? Real bones are strickly outlawed in my house because my male dog will get very nasty around them. He could care less about any other toy but real bones make him vicious. We give them the nyla bones and have never had another problem.

I have been told the best way to break up a dog fight is to pull out the back legs of the dogs. I wish I had better behaviour info for you. Someone here will but in the meantime I suggest reading The Dog Listener. Good luck!
