Exactly what I was thinking.

Your dogs are inside always now, you're going to expect them to acclimate to being outside with you inside? This is not going to happen, at least not easily. They are going to whine, bark, scratch on the doors and windows, and possibly even dig under the fence to get to you. They are also accustomed to air conditioning and will be more prone to heat stroke than a dog that is used to the Texas heat already.

I am sorry I take such a hard stance on this, but it's freakin' hot in this state and my dogs are panting like they're gonna die if I leave them out for 30 minutes and they have a covered porch and ceiling fan. Your dogs are not going to adjust to this easily at all and I find it rather selfish that you would expect them to.

Then there's the risk of escape or danger from other dogs. I posted Cosmo's story earlier this week. Two dogs ate through the fence to his backyard and mauled him, he was dead 24 hours after the attack. He would still be alive if he was inside.

Sorry, I gotta disagree with you guys that think it's okay to do this. I think it's unfair to your dogs.

I'm with you on that. If we aren't willing to stay outside that long in the heat, why should we as our temperature-sensitive furbabies to?

Sam pants like nuts if he's outside more than 30 minutes.
