Completely Boxer Crazy
So we are at nose work last Sunday and we have advanced to scent (sweet birch) with a very small treat on top. The boxes are gone. The scent is on a magnetic lid. The room was set up with tables, chairs, wheelchairs, walkers etc. All things metal generally. The trainer hid the scent on the inside arm of a folding table. My six month old Boxer puppy zoned right in on the area. Since all things good usually come from on a table he ran over and placed both paws on top. Realizing that the scent weakened on top he dropped one paw and his head. He put his head under the table and realized that it was there but did not take his other paw off the table. He is stretching his neck as far as he can trying to reach the scent but cannot figure out why he cannot reach it. He was so focused on the scent that he could not figure out to drop down off the table. He had everyone laughing. I thought the trainer would fall to the floor he was laughing so hard. It was the one week that my husband did not come and tape us. Go figure.

We are still having a blast. I swore that this and agility would only be for fun and Boxer energy burn but we may try to title in nose work. Agility we may compete locally but with work I will not be able to travel.

My boy is so smart. I am so proud of him. he is so much smarter than his handler. That is what makes it so much fun. Is to see him succeed without much help or direction from me. He is just such a natural at everything. Our agility trainer swears he has been on the equipment prior to our class because he is just so comfortable with it all.

Gunther

Super Boxer
That's awesume, I did some noise work with Gunther Bull/Mastiff/Mix but I never did with Struddell (White Boxer) her only "job" was being cute. :)

Is your guy a Euro?

Just having a blast

I really never thought this would be so much fun. He had another stellar night at class last night. We had some tough hides. One was the scent tin under the leg of a metal table. I did not even see it. It looked like part of the table. He nailed it.

It is so much fun to watch how excited all the dogs get waiting their turn. And it is so much fun watching them get into scent. I know it sounds boring at least it did to me. But it is amazingly fun.

We enjoy agility too but it is very different. With agility both you and the dog work to communicate. You are directing the dog. In nose work, the dog does all the work but you have to read the cues the dog gives you. Both are so very different but equally fun.
