Congratulations on becoming new parents!

My Boxer Tyson, waiting at the bridge, absolutely loved babies! We have 4 grandchildren and all grew up around him. He was the most patient of dogs with them. He would allow them to poke him, prod him, pull his tongue, his ears, anything and never growled once at them. I have a wonderful video tape of Tyson and Jordan, age 9 months, playing. Tyson is laying there quietly while Jordan exaimes him thoroughly, patting him all the while. When he had had enough of Jordan, Tyson took his paw and simply tipped Jordan backwards. It's one of those 'you have to see it' type tapes. Jordan got back up and was going back for more but we figured Tyson had had enough and gave Jordan something else to distract him.

When the grandkids or any baby came over Tyson acted as a baby sitter. He would sit right by the baby, never touching, just watching and when it cried he came to get someone to take care of it. Even a baby crying on television got to him.

Mac and Jazz have never been around babies so I have no idea how they would act but they worship kids of any shape, color, or size!

I am due in under 4 weeks!

I am due on July 22nd and am also a little worried about how Duke will take to the change. He's such a good dog I know he would never intentionally hurt the baby. He just get's very excited and clumsy at times.

I will let you know how he reacts to the baby and give you any pointers I pick up.

Good luck and congratualtions.

A couple notes here. First my b-day is Feb 13, so some of you may have a child on my b-day. Secondly, we had our first child on 4/4/01. Maggie was nearing 1 years old. We did the blanket thing, and it certainly didn't hurt. Maggie is great with the baby, but sometimes she isn't aware of wear she is steping, so you have to be careful. But overall, she is great with babies.
