Can anybody suggest a good Boxer-specific dog training book? We're having some trouble getting Iggy to do anything we ask without a treat in hand. I'd like to get a handle on his behavior before he gets much bigger, and even harder to control. *sheesh* I make him sound monstrous. He's just a naughty little bugger, whom we wish we could make sit down and stay every once and a while.

I'd recommend "The Dog Listener" by Jan Fennell. It isn't boxer-specific and it's not a training book in the sense of 'this-is-how-to-teach-your-dog-to-sit' sort of training, but it is an invaluable resource for establishing a correct relationship with your dog, with you clearly in the leadership position. From there, training your dog to behave in the ways that you want becomes a relatively simple task

Boxer Insane
You really don't need a Boxer-specific training book; general training advice applies to Boxers, too. The Culture Clash is a good one for any dog owner's bookshelf, by Jean Donaldson. I also like Clicking with Your Dog by Peggy Tillman, and a good companion for that is Click for Joy by Melissa Alexander. (Melissa's book, I'm fairly certain, address the issue of fading the lure - the treat. Peggy's may, as well. It's a common problem for new trainers (and some not-so-new ones!).)
