Boxer Pal
Im a new boxer owner to Scooby who is 4 years old. I also have an 8 month old Labradoodle named Rocko
I adopted Scooby from a rescue and couldnt be happier.
The day Scooby and Rocko met they did the dominece thing, Scooby won.
They are fine now run and play and get along great.
The other day I was leaving and was taking Scoony with me, he was on his leash. The neighbor kids had there dog in my front yard on a leash. My scooby got out of his collar (I HAVE BOUGHT A NEW ONE) and to me looked liked he was attacking this other dog. I was very scared, he was growling and just all over this other dog. I had the kids pull there dog with there leash into my front door, and Scooby got in the car.
I know his previous owner said he did all the puppy classes and was around there dog and others and was fine.
So now I dont know if that was boxer play or what, and am scared to take him around other dogs and everytime we go for walks Im kinda staying clear of other dogs.
What does anyone else think?
Thank you.

Not much to go on here...its could have been play or Scooby letting the other dog know it was his yard. the more nervous you are with Scooby around other dogs the more tense Scooby will be too....thus giving better chance to creating an unwanted situation.

I agree. Scooby could have been telling this dog that it was his yard or just a simple "hello". With any rescue dog, there comes some more training. We had to retrain Maggie to how we wanted her to be because we didn't know her history. We only knew what the shelter told us. She still has her moments as Scooby will too and you'll always wonder "why does he do that?". I would just keep an eye on him, feel him out for a bit and get to know his body language and behavior. Then you can anticipate what he might do and the appropriate reward or correction. Hope this helped. :)

What was Scoobys' attitude?

Butt in the air with chin near the ground? (Let's play)
Stiff legged, tail high? (I'm boss)
tail lowered? (your boss)

Dogs communicate a lot with their body position. Watching this can tell a lot about what is going on and what to expect.

Kirby Kirb

Boxer Insane
It's hard to say without witnessing it for myself! I know when I take Kirby to the dog park, I sometimes think he is being aggressive, but upon closer inspection I can see that he is just mouthy! It sounds like he is growling but it is kinda like a mixture of talking and growling! (if that makes sense!) he does it with Rigg's (our pug) and his tail is not going all the time, but he has never snapped, just being vocal and telling him who is boss!! I would keep a close eye on it, and see if it happens with your other dog. Keep socializing him with other dogs, and keep a close eye. It is good for them!! :)
