I wasn't sure where to put this ?, so I apologize if its in the wrong forum. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and what did you do about it....since our new (skin) baby has arrived (about a month ago) our boxer has been peeing in the house! He has never had a problem with this before (he is 3). I do plan to take a sample to the vet to rule out a bladder infection. It is not always very frequent, but often enough to make mommy mad!! Any suggestions if anyone feels this is related to the new baby???

If there is no health problems he MAY be looking for attention. Maybe when you have time ( during baby naps) spend some extra time with him.

ruling out a possible UTI is always the first recommendation i make, so it was great to hear that you'll be heading to the vet to tkae care of that possibility. a new addition to the family, whether skin or not, can cause a disturbance in your dog's regular routine. since dog's tend to like routine, they are sometimes affected more than expected. a little more time and affection with your dog should cure the cause of this problem. a brief review of potty training 101 wouldn't hurt either. :)

my Bella did the same thing

Hi, just wanted to let you know that my Bella did the same thing when I brought my babies home. We were told to give her something of the babies right after they were born so she could get use to their scent. Is your boxer going all over the house? Mine would always have an "accident" in the babies room. Try to spend as much time with him as you can. I know it is hard with a new baby, but he had all of your attention until now. Good luck, things will get beter.

Thanks for the suggestions. He is only peeing in the kitchen, not on baby's things or in her room. I am also wondering if maybe all of the rain might have something to do with it.

Our potty situation is the dogs go down the cellar stairs and out the doggie door. Well I have found that when its raining they'll go downstairs and walk around the corner (so I can't see them any more) and then reappear and come back upstairs (skipping the going outside part). So I now follow them down and chase them outside when its wet out.

But looking back I haven't been spending as much time with them and I'm sure they are missing the attention.

Nestle did the same thing. She peed right in front of me and walked away. I made it a point to make some time for mommy/nestle time and she never did it again. My guess is that he is telling you he needs a little time alone with you guys.

Yes, Cooper did that to me the other day.....looked right at me and then lifted his leg. He is always good about giving signs to "go out" so he will get more love and attention and escorts out when its raining.
