Does your boxers go on hunger strikes?

Brutus hasn't done it in a while but he'll go on hunger strikes and go days without eating anything, he'll drink he seems happy and bouncy and his normal self, just won't eat.

I haven't taken him to the vet for it because there is no other symptom to his "strikes" other then his not eating, if he had seemed depressed or lethargic or wasn't drinking I would have rushed him in...

How old is the kibble when he does this? Just wondering if it's stale/oils have gone rancid, and he's holding out until he can't any longer. Do you store it in the original bag? If you pour it in a plastic container, the oils get absorbed in the plastic and can turn rancid.

If none of this applies, then I guess it's just a quirk he has.

He eats his way through a bag of kibble in a bout a month. I don't think he's ever had a bag of kibble longer (I only purchase a big enough bag to get us through the month) Its stored in its original bag, inside a clear garbage bag, inside a plastic container with a lid.

Umm thats a strange one,iv never heard of a dog thats feeling well not wanting to eat, Is it just the kibble that he refuses or is it all food.

Lady does this sometimes... usually it's when she's bored of her food. Lately I've tried switching her food and bought a brand new expensive all natural dog food thinking the higher meat content would appeal to her and she won't touch it unless I mix something yummy in with it, which I try not to do. She's even picky about what I add in and wont eat it if I put just broth on it! If I don't add anything she will go about 2-3 days until she finally breaks down and eats.

Trying to just get her most of the way through this bag so we can find something she likes!

Is someone feeding table scraps or treats, some times they pass on their kibble if they know they will be getting tastier treats later.

My guy used to do that and only eat when he finally had to. I started giving him some raw Natures Variety Instinct raw patties in his diet and he's loved it ever since. His stool has gotten much better too. The Bison Beef formula works wonders. :)
