Hello new Boxer World visitor! Although I regret to hear the reason you "stumbled" upon this website. I wanted to comment on your Promise's enlarged heart. My family's boxer, Loki, died in March from the same condition. He was barely six years old. He too, was given six months to live and may have made it one month longer than that. My parents paid an excessive amount to keep him alive, and without pain. But of course, the symptoms progressed and there was nothing more they could do. You are faced to decide whether or not the dog's quality of life is worth living. That was the hardest loss (of an animal) that I have ever been through. He was the first of our boxers to pass. Then, one week later, Loki's father died of twisted intestines. It wasn't a good week. Now, my mom has Loki's older sister, Lacey to tend to. She is eight years old now, which is almost ancient for boxers.
My husband and I have a ten month old puppy named Zeke. He just had an operation a week ago to remove fabric that was blocking his intestines. (He got into everything). We've had him home for a few days now, and things seemed to progress, but now the future looks grim. He is still vomiting and weak. I never meant to take away from your loss, I just wanted to explain that I really do feel for you. Losing pets is very hard to do. You have my condolences.
