Boxer going out routine!

Here i am again! Im wandering what kind of goig out to pee routine should i try to give to Meggie, she will be 6 Mouths next 19 of Mars, now i take her out at: 07H45;(than she eats) 12H30; 17H30(than she eats); 22H30, but im having some problems, if i stay in home durring the day shes ok with this, but some times she sleeps a lot during the day, so drinks just a litle water before 12h30, and at 14H00 +/- she pees in the house! should i take her all so at 14H00 or these will be a bad habit? because in the future lots of days i will not be at home at 14H00! another problem im having is that if i dont stay at home, lots of times she doenst "respect" tihis schedul, and pees, could be some kind of revange for staing away of me?

I think to be honest you are not letting her out enough during the day. Our Charlie is almost 6 months old and she can stretch to 3 hours but no longer during the day. She can last through the night. They only have small bladders so need to go out more often than adult dogs.

Dogs don't think like us humans, I doubt if they are capable of revenge, more like she just has to go and can't hold it in any longer.

Thanks! i didnt mean revange in the normal way, just a way to express that she doesnt like to be alone! and waht i find strange is that if i stay with her at home she allmost evryday have no problems with this schule!

Hi, Are you in an apartment is that why you have a timed schedule for going for a pee with her? I understand having a schedule with them but just wondered if this is the case as it seems you cant take her out as and when. Luke is 6 months this week and he goes out when he needs to - we having a walking routine obviously but as far as peeing he goes when he rings a bell. I agree that it is not a revenge thing and also thought if she is asleep when you are out and then wakes up she probably needs to pee. I find that Luke sleeps alot in the day and when he wakes up I always make sure he goes out because otherwise in his sleepy state he may release wherever he is!

Whether you are home or out is likely to make a difference to how long she can hold on, especially if she's anxious when left alone.

The reason is a fairly simple one (and actually the same reason that dogs - and people - can last all night without peeing, but can't do it during the day). When we sleep deeply, this is the time that our bodies take for growth and repair functions. So that it doesn't get interrupted, our bodies slow down or stop completely all non-essential or delayable functions. This includes production of urine.

The reason that we don't all need to get up and pee halfway through the night then, isn't because our bladders are super-strong or big, but because we're simply not producing very much urine. To a lesser extent, the same thing happens if we nap during the day.

When you are home with her, and Meggie is relaxed enough to be sleeping - he body isn't producing very much urine during that time. Therefore, she can go longer periods without having to pee.

But if she's NOT sleeping when you're not there - then her body will be producing urine at normal rate Therefore, she will need to pee sooner.

With that in mind, you may find that the answer is as simple as giving her more chances to empty her bladder during the day (if that's possible). If it's not possible, you may have to consider laying some newspaper for her to pee on, or hiring a dog walker to come and take her out.

I don't think Meggie is going out nearly enough... my 2 year old goes out much more than that...my 7 month old I put out as soon as he wakes up in the morning about 7:30, than he eats and goes out again...then probably about every 2 hours I will say pee pee time and he will go to the back door...I have to say even if he doesn't want to go out I will walk out with him and he will go pee, after excitement and play and about i/2 hour after drinking water....
Try letting him out a little more and see if that helps...Good luck!!

Thanks every one! i will try to go out more, yes i live in an apartmant but i make shore that she runs in the apartament because i have space and i like to play with her a lot! the reason to try to emplement a schudule is bacause lots of persons told me that is the best way to them, to stop doing it at home! and right now my job aloud me to stay home during day, but i dont now in the near future and my wife have the normal 09 to 17.30 schudule with lunch time at home also. another thing is that she never give any sign meaning that she wantas to go out side! as far as i know!
