Boxer Equivalent of "I'm Not Touching You"

I swear my Kaite-girl has gotten on my final nerve this past weekend. In the last couple of weeks she has taken on a more active role in training the foster baby (Jack), before that, i think she looked at him like a guest, (i.e. Letting him get away with all kinds of behavior, letting him take toys away from her and so forth) well the last few weeks she has been a little more stern with the boy and is teaching him how to "play nice" with other doggies. (I must say she is nothing short of amazing at times)

Well, somewhere in the last few days she must have decided to adopt dear ole Jack because i now get the doggie equivalent of the sibling game "i'm not touching you" GRRRRRRRR As soon as Jack settles down on the floor and starts to drift off to sleep, (and i finally get a couple of rows of crochet in) kaite decides to stand over him. Literally NOT touching him! so he gets upset about her doing this, they start fighting and she looks at me as if to say "See he's fighting with me again" I swear it is like having 2 5yr olds in my house!!!!! I am going nuts! And every time i see that commercial with the two kids at the beach and they play "I'm not touching you" i just wanna throw the remote into the TV.

Oh well, this too shall pass! :D AND SOON!!!!

Quinsi plays that game with Gunner. Then he will bark, growl and snap at him without touching him. Then Quinsi will eventually start punching Gunner in the side with his nose til the chasing and fighting start. This has been going on for months now with no end in sight! :D

Well, there's nothing to stop you intervening if you don't like the behaviour or its results When Kaite goes and stands over Jack - why don't you call her away and redirect her to something else? If you don't, how else is she to know it's inappropriate?

Quinsi plays that game with Gunner. Then he will bark, growl and snap at him without touching him. Then Quinsi will eventually start punching Gunner in the side with his nose til the chasing and fighting start. This has been going on for months now with no end in sight! :D

Mai'lani does this too. She wants to play and does everything she possibly can to get Ikaika going (sometimes his old bones refuse).

He does it as a dominating thing, letting her know he is the oldest and is in charge.

Though...she just slips out from underneath him and starts all over again. Silly girl!

I've always been told that standing over is a form of showing their dominance. My one boy does it to the other...in fact when Tucker is sleeping, Titus will stand over him and even sit on him (his head, body, etc). It is a way of showing ownership.

I do redirection but, mostly this happens when i am crocheting, filling out christmas cards or doing some craft, so i can't just hop up. Most of the time, i notice what is going on right when Jack jumps up on her. It is mostly a timing issue. I dont catch her right at the time she is doing this. Although, now that i am aware, i do pay closer attention when he finally settles down. You should see what happens when she picks up a toy. She literally stands there and i swear she is saying "Nanny Nanny Boo Boo" KIDS!!!! This is why i only have one child! Until these two get together!

Yep...just another one here too...Max and Har do this all the time...well its mostly Harlie...Max is more dominant than she is...and the second he sits down or lays down, she is right over top of him...then he stands up. LOL...they never start fighting about it...Max just gets up and walks away from her. But they do their share of roughhousing too.

Titus and Lexi do the same thing. Titus is the one who likes to go on his own and chew his bone and Lexi is always bothering him. Then the growling and wrestling starts. It's annoying if I'm trying to talk on the phone but personally I don't want to stop it. They're just having a good time (much to Titus' reluctance) so I let them be. When Titus can't take Lexi aggravating him, he'll give up the bone and pay her some attention. They'll tear off around the house making such a ruckus, all in good fun. I've learned to have a deaf ear to it...hard but possible to do Kids will be kids.
