A lot of people are against cropping, and it is banned in the UK. I don't know that there are really any pros, it's a matter of personal preference. My pups ears are done, they were done when he was approx. 9 weeks old. The aftercare is not much fun, many vet visits, an ecollar, stitch removal, then posting. Taping and retaping to keep the ear tall and stretched so it heals correctly and the cartilage hardens to make the ear stand. Sometimes, though I doubt very often the ear will droop even after all the taping to make it stand. My personal preference is a cropped ear, however you will find most disagree. I honestly like a boxer no matter what it's ears look like:D It's hard to find a vet who will crop and you want to definitely make sure they know what they are doing, ask to see pictures of ears they've cropped or contact a local boxer club to talk to breeders to see if there are any good vets near you who do it. They can make the ear too short and butchy looking if they don't know what they are doing. Good luck if you should decide to go with a cropped pup:)

Yes, cropping is illegal in the UK and in quite a few other countries too (I can think of 7 or 8 offhand) - but it is not banned in the US. It does, however, need to be done by 12 weeks I believe.
It is a (very) often-discussed topic though, so if you make use of the search feature you should find plenty of information to help with your decision ;)

Ears

I have had both of my boxers ears cropped. It is a tiny bit of a pain to deal with but the end result is beautiful! It is a personal choice- I know a lot of people out there are against it. The dogs do not seem to be in much pain for long - maybe a week? The vet will give you pain medicine. FIND A REPUTABLE vet in your area- my personal vet wanted $450---I found a "boxer club" MD vet in Baltimore who did it for $150. There is not suppose to be any health benifit from having it done - more of a "look" thing. I figure it is the look of the breed....It is a bit time consuming to get the ears to stand....but worth it in my opionion. There is lots of info on the web and also search for more questions like this on Boxer World!! Good luck!! (ps- I heard from Bella's breeder and others that the ears wont totally stand up (tips) until the puppy has gone through teething)
