Right before DH and I got married we where at the beach. A friend of a friend was there with his gorgeous boxer boy, Gage. (I will never forget his name) He was so friendly, but so tough looking. He pranced around which such confidence and an attitude, but when you got him alone he was the goofy boxer boy. I fell in love instantly.
When we built our house a few months later we wanted a dog. I wanted something small (I had a pomeranian for 14 years) but DH insisted on a boxer. We called Gage's owner to learn a little more and realized a boxer is what we needed. We found a breeder and Tyson has been with us for 5 years. A year ago we added Kyzar. Life has never been the same. We really know how to enjoy life now, LIVE IT WITH A BOXER!!!!:D

Completely Boxer Crazy
Greg and I both had dogs growing up, so we knew as soon as we could, we wanted a dog for our own family.

While in college, I had a co-worker who had a boxer (Dazzle Brown) and we took Justice over to her house to trick-or-treat one Halloween. That was the first time we ever saw a boxer and we fell in love with her personality.

We knew as soon as I graduated and moved to TX to begin my new job that we would get our first dog. We were trying to decide between a rottie (Greg's dog had been part rottie) and a boxer and decided on the boxer. We went to the bookstore and purchased as many books as we could find about boxers to learn more.

Hindsight is 20/20 and while I researched the breed correctly to make sure a boxer was the dog for us, the only thing I didn't do right was research breeders and we purchased Magnum from a BYB. That was before I was a part of BW. Since then, I've learned so much from BW about the importance of getting a puppy/dog from a reputable breeder or rescue, and we did the right thing when we brought Omar into our life.

But, that being said, I wouldn't trade Magnum for the world - BYB or not. He has brought so much love, joy and happiness into our life.

Including my family, my boys are my life. I will always have a boxer.

Well my hub and kids decided they wanted a dog, not me. Nope. Wanted no part of getting attached to another dog and then losing it. No way I said. Hub wanted a Boxer, I really had no idea about them. He found Austin way down in Atlantic City, and I was dragged along on the 2 and a half hour ride to meet him at the shelter. Well he came out of the back beanin' like crazy at the kids and they were hooked. So I gave in but SWORE I wasn't gonna get attached. Right. We brought him home and I was sitting on the couch and he was standing in front of me and out of nowhere he jumped up and gave me a hug. It was all over. lovicon He has brought so much love and laughter into our home, and I wouldn't give him up for anything in this world. And then I found Boxerworld! I can't imagine ever having another breed. I swear they are almost human!

I have always been a dog lover and growing up we had various mixed breeds usually small dogs, I don’t think I ever met a boxer till I met my husband. We first met about 7 years ago he had Hooligan a beautiful brindle boy who was 5 years old at the time, I totally fell in love with that dog, we used to joke how I only married my husband for his dog ;)

So Hooligan got me stuck on the boxer breed, and is the reason I got involved in boxer rescue, he has since passed on to the bridge and now I have Finn & Nessa and I know there will always be a boxer in our home from now on

My Dad had a GSD growing up he's the dog lover in the family. My Mom didn't like dogs. So when I was 21 I bought our Yorkie Disney- Mom was real mad but when she saw this 1lb ball she fell in love.
Hubby live across the street from a man who bred boxers and loved them since he could remember. So when we got married I started researching and 2 years later we found a wonderful breeder 45 minutes from us. We went to meet her and see Oskar and he melted our hearts! We've had him since June and absolutly love him to death. Disney will be 9 in April and they get along great!

Well, I always had dogs and cats, they were all strays we picked from the street, my husband also had mutts all his life, and we had up to 4 dogs at a time sometimes, some of our dogs went to the bridge and we didn't replace them, since I got pregnant and going to school, we only had 2 dogs when my very favorite passed away, and he was the last big dog I had, after that when my son turned 4 years old we got him a chihuahua, and we love that little dog, then my husband started thinking he wanted another bigger dog, one that he could identify and bond with, l looked at some breeds, rotties, germans, labs, but still wasn't convinced. Well, we went to see that movie with the kid that can talk to dogs, and there was a beautiful boxer there, and my husband started screaming, "that's the dog, that's the dog", after that I started researching and came across this website, which completely turned me boxer crazy, we have had our baby for 4 months now, and I have to say, that I always loved my dogs and they always showed me lots of love, but Tyson gives me hugs, kisses, looks, that make me melt everytime he does it, we know that we will never be owned by anything again!!!!

We had Golden Retrievers while I grew up and they are dolls.

When I moved out, my boyfriend and I adopted a Rotti from the pound. He was a great boy...my bf took him in the break up, however but I still got to see him on occasion. Sadly we had to put him to sleep last March due to old age - we estimated 11. angelicon

During this whole time my parents and I shared a golden retriever while I was in college and couldn't really have my own dog yet and my parents traveled a lot and needed a frequent babysitter. Her name was Hannah and she was a great dog! Hannah used to come everywhere with me and all over campus and everyone loved her. She was 6 when I got Mason. Sadly we had to put her to sleep last June due to stomach cancer - she was 9 1/2. Mason and I miss her very much. angelicon

I got Mason from a guy I know, I guess he was sort of a BYB, and the reason I got him was that I absolutely fell in love with the mother's temperment. When Jazz was only a year old I told him if he ever bred her to let me know since she was such a great dog. Sure enough, 2 years later he called and told me she was pregnant. I got second pick, after him and I picked out Mason. I've had Mason for 3 1/2 years and I love him dearly.

I never thought that this breed would steal my heart the way it has. Whenever I see a boxer I just melt now....
Thanks for posting this great thread - it's great to hear how everyone got their furkids! :)

In highschool my friend got her baby boxer and I went up with her to the breeders every weekend until Bailey came home. I feel in love with a baby in the litter that we called Milkdrop! (in gallery)My friend's boxer was a show dog and I also used to attend shows with her. I fell in love with how sweet these dogs were! Then her boxer had her first litter! I was so excited and was there through all the steps! Sadly I could not have one as I lived at home and was not allowed! I was absolutly heartbroken as I had totally fallen for a brindle we used to call "T" as her flashy marking came into a T on her collar (She' in my gallery). Finally a litter was born to a friend of hers and I had moved out so I was finally able to get my baby! I saw Angel at two days old and was even allowed to hold her! I fell madly for her ! I visited her every week until she came home! I love my furbabies! They are so precious! If I had the room I would definitely have another!

What great stories!

I am new to Boxers but have been a devoted dog lover all of my life.
Growing up we had a pointer mix named Lucky (my dad found him when he was out hunting) When he passed on (attacked by a Great Dane when we moved to a new house, I was 4) we got a German Shepard/Irish Wolfhound mix named Sable. She was the best dog! so loving and protective!! As a teenager I wanted my own dog so I worked hard to save money and got a Pomeranian named Sheena. SHeena and Sable didn't like each other at first (they both wanted to sleep on my bed :) ) But got along real well once they worked things out! I moved out of my parents house at the age of 17 and had to leave behind any pets. I have a 12 yr old daughter who has never known what it is like to have the love and companionship of a dog. I wanted that for her so much!
At long last I am 30 and have gotten into a house. Within a month of getting the house I talked my new husband into getting a dog. Luckily we both love the way a Boxer looks and decided to do some research on them. A Boxer sounded like exactly what I wanted for my daughter! Fate stepped in and we found our breeder & Baron the next week!

What an amazing breed! We are already talking about wanting to get a second one!! :D
