Sorry, I guess I just got overzelous when I found out about him. Before I found your web site and the knowledge that there are resuce groups, I had a situation with this shelter. And just the thought of a boxer being there just made me sooooooooooo...... If a situation arrises again I know what and how to post. Please, I apologize.

Looking for second furball
Xena and I (oh and my boyfriend
) are looking for a little brother for her. I rescued her two years ago in april and i really want to rescue a second dog, a boy perferrably since xena is a pretty dominating female. However i would really like a puppy, i adopted xena when she was about 4 or 5, after she had many horrible years in a puppy mill and abusive families.
But i want a puppy this time, and i feel bad cause i know there are millions of older dogs that need adoption but i would like to experience a boxer puppy (or a boxer under 50 lbs haha - even though Xena swears she is when she tries to sleep on my head).
But any advice where i could find shelters or rescuses or even breeders if you don't think its likel to find a rescue thats young?? I just moved to Southern Virginia (almost in NC) and would be willing to travel a severals hrs to find a pup. I've just started looking for a second dog and i know it takes time but i'm just so excited.

I work for a rescue group that covers both North and South Carolina, and on occasion, we have adopted to Virginia. (I actually live near Elizabeth City) There are several boxer only rescue groups in NC, two that I specifically know of. If you google boxer rescue and put in the state names or something along those lines, you should find the groups. I'm sure there are rescue groups in VA, I'm just not familiar with them! I know that we have several males available, I can't remember specific ages, but it might be worth your while to check out the website and if you are interested, to fill out the application. (The reference checks and home visit do take a couple of weeks to finalize before we can approve the application, I didn't know how big a hurry you were in). Good luck!!
