We already have a 13 week old boxer puppy (Carlie) , but I have recently came across a friends female pit bull puppy for sale. She was so cute so I decided to bring her home with me for a couple of days to see how her and Carlie would get along. I felt like they were great together, they sleep together, but Carlie always tries to sit or stand on the pit puppy to get the attention on her.

I need advice on what will be a better decision...should I keep the puppy and have two puppies at the same time (will this be too much work?) or should I give back the pit puppy and hope that she sells ( or else she'll go to a shelter) ? Does anyone else have two big dogs? how do they act? Thanks guys!!

I personally think that if they get along this well now, then they should on down the road. On the other hand, I've never had 2 females before. You'll get some good advice from others I'm sure. Good Luck.

I have had no experience of this, but I think other BW members may tell you it's not a good idea to have 2 females together.

I would be very wary of having 2 females that will be the roughly same size and age. Especially with the reputation female boxers have as being "witchy" ;) I would be very afraid if they ever got in a fight, since pits have so much potential to do harm and both boxers and pits are unlikely to back down from a fight. They may get along great now, but that will surely change when they reach sexual maturity and one of them will naturally want to be "above" the other in the pack so to speak. They may possibly challenge each other throughout their lives being the same age and size. If you decide to keep the pit, would you be willing to keep them permanently seperated if they weren't able to live together?
Not to mention the challenges of trying to train two puppies at once.
I wouldn't do it, but I'm sure others have tried similar situations and it worked out fine, its up to you in the end.

I agree with the others in regards to the two females, especially the breeds you're dealing with. Boxers bitches, well - are bitches...and pit bulls are prone to same sex breed aggression, females especially. Then with their closeness in age - usually you don't know there is going to be a problem between two females until they have matured at around 2-3 years old. I am not saying diaster is a guarantee, but you certainly have the recipe for it. ;)

Another thing you want to keep in mind is both boxers and pitties need a lot of individual time, training, and socialization to become a well rounded adults. It's a big commitment with just one, and personally I think it's better to focus all of your efforts in raising one pup before getting a second one.

I agree its not the right time. The female /female thing is a big issue but beyond that raising two puppies at the same time is very difficult. I’ve raised two puppies at the same time and its complicated for a multiple of reasons. And although I love my two dogs to death I can honestly say that I wouldn’t do it again.

Hopefully she can find another home for this puppy and get her dog spayed soon. There are so many unwanted Pitt Bulls sitting in shelters. I can’t imagine why anyone would be creating more.

My sister has two female pitbulls that are glued at the hip (3 years and 1 year). They are also extremely close to my female boxer and will play all day long. I think that the two dogs could potentially get along very well.

Exactly what I thought-that poor breed has been through so much
