Boxer and cat????

We have a nine month old Boxer and just introduced a very young kitten into the household. Kali(Boxer) won't stop eating the cat's food and she is also eating cat litter. We have told her to stop a HUNDRED times and we are getting frustrated with her. Kali eating cat food is a problem because our kitten is not old enough to be able to eat dog food. The problem is not the food she is getting either. We feed her Bil-Jac. Why does she do this and how do we get her to stop? She is normally a quick learner and she is also eager to please. Any help would be appreciated.:confused:

 

[BooBoo & Riley]

We have a one year old Boxer, BooBoo and a one year old kitty named Riley...

We feed Riley on our nook table so that BooBoo can't get to it and BooBoo's raised food dish is on the floor . No that doesn't stop BooBoo from smelling what Riley is having for dinner..so I usually take a bit of Riley's wet food and mix it into BooBoo dry food so that both smells similar. Riily our cat actually like to eat BooBoo's food too, but only when there is anything left after BooBoo is through with it...

As for litter, we bought Riley a Booda Dome, about $20 from Petsmart...the dome covers the litter box completely except for a 6" diameter hole that allows Riley to go in easily, but it's too small for BooBoo's head to get in all the way.

[Cayenne's Dad]

Cayenne loves to chase and play with our cat prissy, but prissy hated it and would fight back. To solve the problem and since prissy had the run of the house prior to cayenne coming into the picture, we put kiddie gates from walmart to keep cayenne from running around the house and since prissy can jump the gate she can come and go as she pleases. This also kept cayenne away from prissy's food and litter box.

Thank you both for your help. The Cat and Dog get along great. Kitty thinks Kali is mommy and Kali thinks kitty is her baby. She does like to chase the cat though. I think the cat likes it though because when she stops the cat runs between her legs and then looks back to see if she is following. Kali also gives the kitty a bath.
