GunnyKS
Boxer Booster
We got Gunny last summer. He was living in a mobile home with 3 children, and an older female boxer that had been with the family for several years. The husband was about to be deployed to Iraq for a year, and mom was 9 months pregnant with her fourth child. They had taken good care of Gunny, but you could tell it was all too much for the mother. The kids didn't seem to care much that Gunny was leaving, and I got the distinct feeling that he spent most of his time in his kennel, or tied to the tree outside the trailer. He had just turned 1 when we got him. He has been wonderful!
Last Friday, I got up at 5:30 AM, grabbed a coffee and Egg McMuffin, and parked outside of the local Animal Shelter. They opened at 1PM, but we were told adoptions were first come first served. We had seen Zac a week earlier, and counted the days. Imagine someone letting a 5 month old brindle wander off and never looking for him? My guess is this- we live in a college town. Some college kid decided they wanted that cute puppie, and later decided they didn't want the responsibility of taking care of him anymore. When he got away, they wrote him off. Look at his pictures in my gallery, could you have let that sweet boy go without looking? Oh well, he's ours now, and we love him too. He's been with us a week, and he is settling in well. He and Gunny act like old friends.
That's our story.
