we are having problems this year with grass seeds. Its been dry over here - unusual for england i hear you say but believe me it makes a change. My boxer keeps getting grass seeds between her toes and its just cost us a fortune to pay the vet to get them out!!! 5 in one back foot and 2 in the other. Apart from not taking her to the fields and letting her have a good run around, which we really dont want to do .... how else will she burn all that energy off. We thought we would try getting her some booties but they keep falling off. Can anyone suggest a good make of boots just to get us over this period. Or any other suggestion .....

I have used the ones with velcro ankle straps that go around the ankles. They seem to stay on. Search on the web for the kind they use on the Huskies that run the sled dog races. I would think those would stay on.

Our Dieter has very sensitive feet, so we had to get boots for the winter. We tried the slip-on, velcro type, but, like you experienced, they tend to slip off, no matter how tight you wrap that velcro. So, we bought some boots from neopaws: http://www.neopaws.com/shoes.html

They are a pain to put on, but they stay on really well. They make winter boots and summer booties, which is probably more what you're looking for.

They're fairly expensive, but we've gone two seasons now with the winter boots and they're still in great shape. Plus, they look hilarious!

Good luck!

I just got a catalogue from Cabela's last night and I think they had 5 different styles of booties depending on your needs. I'm sure you can check it out on their website.

I used booties with velcro straps with Brutis when we were in Alaska. He didnt like them at first, but got used to them. And I have to admit I laughed about as hard as I can remember the first time he wore them each year. I had never seen a "high stepping" boxer before. Once he got used to them he was okay, but the looks I got when I broke them out each year were priceless.

website for dog boots

My brother had exactly the same problem with his Rottweiler getting grass seeds in his paws all of the time.
He was forever at the vets having them removed it was costing him a fortune and then he got some dog boots for him, sounds silly but it really worked and the dog didn't mind wearing them on his walks.
The link to the site is

Good luck,
