Boomer's Tummy Trouble (a little long)

Well Boomer had some very loose stools since Saturday so I took him to the vet Tuesday night. They took blood work and did an overall exame. The vet said that he is not losing any weight which is a very good sign. Boomer was eating Merrick but the vet gave me Hills Science Diet i/d to see if that helps the problem. He also gave me a prescription to help firm up the stools. He called today with the results of the bood work and Boomer had some elevated levels in his blood, nothing too high just slightly elevated. The vet said that this could just be consistant with having an upset tummy. We are going to wait it out a few weeks to see if the food helps. If I feel as though its getting worse or he losing weight they will do mor extensive blood work. Im worried and just needed som BW support. He's still playing like a nut and has his appetite so I'm trying to think positive and hopefully it was just the food and nothing more. I will certainly fill you in when I have more information

Definitely sending positive thoughts your way, hopefully Boomer just nibbled something that didn't agree with him and his tummy will settle down with the meds and I/D food...keep us posted!

Well Boomer isnt quite done with his medication yet, he until Tuesday to finish the pills. Already his stool are looking better. Im still concerned about these elevated levels in the blood work though but we'll have to juast wait it out.

The elevated levels on his bloodwork may very well be from the tummy upset, and since he is responding well to the meds/diet, it sounds as if this is the case. transition him back to his regular food gradually over a couple days or so when you are ready to switch back to his regular diet so that you do not further upset his tummy since it may still be a bit sensitive at first. But glad to hear that he is improving! Let me know how he does and if any bloodwork is rechecked, please let us know how it turns out! Happy vibes to Boomer from Gracie & me!

Poor guy! I hope he feels better soon! Duchess has tummy troubles from time to time so I know how that goes!
