Whitney I don't want to offer any advice on what to feed Boomer, since I don't want to tell you the wrong thing. I do want to say that I'm glad to hear your baby is coming home today. Maybe he picked up a virus of some sort?

I'm glad to hear Boomer is coming home, hopefully he'll start to feel better soon. Isn't it the worst when the little angels get sick? I can't bear it if anything seems wrong with Layla. I'm obsessive about checking her out for bumps and making sure she's feeling ok. Good luck. Keep us updated.

Just wanted to say that Boomer is as happy as a lark to be home (almost as happy as I am). The vet said he thought he'd be fine, but does want to check him this morning. DH is going to take him for me b/c I've missed quite a bit of work with him this week. They did say he hadn't eaten much while he was there, but he gobbled up the Hills S/D canned food they gave (sold) me to feed him. He just laid around and snuggled and slept and rolled around in the floor. I'm sure he was glad when everybody went to bed last night, b/c we all just wollered him to death! But, he did sit in my LAP all the way home from the vet's office-that was a hilarious site I'm sure! A 50+ pound boxer in my lap behind the wheel of my mini-van! Luckily, I only live about 5 minutes from there, so I didn't have to drive too far.
I do have another question: should I continue with this vet food (they sold me 3 cans), or is there something better I can give him? Maybe boiled chicken and rice?

I was going to suggest chicken and rice, or hamburger (well-drained) and rice.
That's what I give mine when their tummies are upset.

Maybe Boomer didn't eat at the vet because he wasn't at home? I KNOW Austin wouldn't eat. He doesn't even eat at home when we're not here. Glad he's home and you're all feeling better!

I left a message under a reply for you a couple days ago under the rainbow bridge for Gunther but I'll repeat it here. My thoughts and best wishes are with you and Boomer and hopefully everything will be fine. As far as Vets go I've found that many, including mine, do not seem aggressive enough when it comes to prognosis. If you like your Vet. then just be firm and a little pushy when you think something should be done; often they are hesitant to start testing our pets because they think that we will think that they are just doing it for the money. My Vet. was exceptional during Gunthers last few weeks and I will eventually use him again but I will be much more insistant on proceedures if I feel something should be done like CBCs and thyroid workups. As far as diet, use what Boomer will eat and hold down, at least for now, and KD is a very reputable brand. Good luck I'm rooting for Boomer and I asked Gunther to watch over him. Also thank you for your kind comments in reference to my post, they all helped tremendously.

Thank you all for the wonderful well-wishes and kind words. Ya'll have been a huge support for me. Everything seems to be going good for Boomer. The vet said I could try to start working him back into his food on Sunday, and things seem to be going good with that. So far, he's shown no more signs of upset tummy. Dr Wyatt seems to think that the barium that they gave him may have coated his stomach, and whatever was bothering him couldn't any more. He said he's seen that happen quite often. Bizarre, huh?
But, anyway, we seem to be doing better, and I just wanted to thank all of you again.
