Just wondering what everyone thinks about Blue Buffalo dog food. It is holistic and does not contain any wheat gluten. I would love some additional input from you guys.

I did try it right after we got Duke. We switched over carefully, over a week, but he never really got used to it. His stools were really soft. After about a month, we gave up and switched to Neutro Max--I know not the best stuff in the world, but it seems to work better.

It's okay. IMO there are better foods in the same price range as well as cheaper, but if you have a chain store that carries it and that's the best you can get it's okay. You mentioned something about no wheat gluten, if your dog has a gluten allergy be careful as BB contains barley which is gluten so if a gluten free food is a must for you (it is for us) then you will have to find another food.

Good luck!

I have tryed that dog food for about a month when my boxer was 6 months but she did not like it. It was said to prevent cancer and her stool wont stink but i switched her to Ultra Nutro and she likes it a lot. The reason why i switch because nutro pebbles were a lil smaller and 3 different type of oils for her coat where in there. But blue bufallo is good i was informed by one of the dog instructors at pet smart sayin she always use it and she has like 3 boxers.

my two enjoyed it, as well as the rest of my pups. i didn't see any loose stools or anything like that from them. but, i will admit that there are a few other things you can feed that are on the same level but are cheaper.

Venus is on BB and she loves it. She likes the Chicken but not the Lamb. She's been on it for about 5 weeks ish now and her stools are always fine. She's only once had runny poops and that we figured out was from a couple treats we gave her.

Out three year old Clyde alternates between BB and Taste of the Wild. He is a very picky eater and when he refused to eat anything else we tried BB. He loves the Sweet Potato & Fish.

Bentley my 11 month old was on Blue Puppy Chicken and Rice since he was 7 weeks old. His stools would range from firm to soft then runny. We figured typical puppy stools so we never switched. The last bag we bought the kibble was lighter in color than past bags. Bentley developed the runs. We lowered the amount and even fasted him one day with no luck. We transitioned him to California Natural Lamb and Rice and so far so good nice firm stools. Were hoping we found a good food for his tummy.
