Bloody Bowel Movements

I just wanted to second (and third and fourth) what others have already said. When I hear a story about a few drops of blood at the end of a bowel movement, it reminds me of how mildly Oscar's colitis started. I would ask your vet to double check the results of the scope -- your vet might not be that familiar with "boxer colitis" (histiocytic ulcerative colitis). Oscar's started as a few allergy-like bouts every few months, but, even with treatment, progressed slowly and steadily to chronic colitis.

As for Oscar, we have tried every food and drug that everyone has already mentioned and more. For the last 18 months, we have been unable to get him into remission :( . But, other than being symptomatic, we have been able to maintain his weight on his current food and he's still the same sweetheart as always, so we remain hopeful!

Good Luck.

Boxer Pal
I went to the vet today and got a cpl of perscriptions. An antibiotic and metronidazole. When she came home from cornell she was on these and she cleared up for awhile. Hopefully this will do the trick for now. I would would like to say thank you again for the posts. I love this site, best boxer information and support on the web...:D
