I was hoping someone on here could help me, my boxer is female 17 months old and I noticed this morning her vagina looked swollen, she is not fixed so my first thoughts were she's in heat. I inspected her and she had some dried blood on it and again I thought she was in heat but I went to wipe it away and it was actually a scab, underneath it was red raw almost bleeding, the area was only small but was on both lower sides, inside looked ok. My wife will be taking her to the vets as soon as they open but I was wondering if anyone else has come across this before. Shes kept in doors and well looked after. If anyone has seen this and knows why it may have ocurred please reply to this thread, thank you.

It sounds most as though it's an injury - a scrape or graze that she's picked up somewhere. Other possibilities could be acne or a bug bite or similar that has irritated her and she has licked/chewed on. Sorry, that's not a lot of help, but it's not something I've really heard of before. Do keep us posted on what the vet has to say.

its o.k

After spending the day at the vets it turns out that my dog is having whats called a 'split heat' she was not due to go into heat till April/May but had it early. This is quite rare or so my vet informs me so when she is finished we are going to get her fixed. She looks so sad at the moment. I am glad it was nothing more serious I was thinking about internal ruptures etc. Other than that she is in excellent health, thanks for your support.
