We picked up our 7-1/2 week old puppy this Saturday and everytime she poops there would be small traces of blood. This morning she must have pooped 7 times and each time there was more blood. I am taking her to the vet tonight, but has anyone experienced this with their new puppy and any idea what it might be?

Before we picked up our puppy the breeder took him to the vet because he had blood in his stools. He did have worms of some sort. Of course, I was really worried and didn't know if we should still get him. I did some research and found out that it is very common in puppies.

She will get better!
I know she will get better, because Brewski came home with hookworms, and 2 days later was all better. Puppies are quite resiliant!
PS - Don't try any crate training until she gets better. It'll be harder on her and you, trust me
We went through 3 impossible nights. You'll find it better to sleep on an easily cleanable surface

My Emma is 11 wks today. My husband just called to say that she has blood in her poop and dead maggots. We have an appointment for tomorrow at the vet. Does this sound like the intestinal parasites you guys are familiar with? She has not shown any signs of illness and we got her at 7 weeks.

We've recently added a 9 wk old boston terrier puppy to our family and she's been having trouble with diarrhea and bloody stools. Our vet confirmed coccidia and gave us 10 days worth of tabs but here it is day 8 and she's still having the same symptoms. I called the vet again today since we only have 2 days worth of pills left and he wants me to pick up 7 more days worth and start feeding her yogurt too. Hopefully it works!!! Might be something worth trying anyway. . .

Emma is ok, vet checked poop and said it was fine. It must have been something she ate. We have had no problems since. Thanks for everyones comments.

we didnt have that issue with Duchess. I wouldnt hesitate bringing her into the vet tho...let us know how she is doing!
