Blood in Poop

Hi,
My boxer pooped blood today, not solid poop, but literally blood. it's bright red. He hasn't been eating well and threw up bile 3 times last night, woke me up in the middle of the night.

Does anyone know what this could be?
I've never had this happen to me before and i am very scared.

Bright blood in poop doesn't normally concern me, but with the other symptoms he should be seen.

Blood in the poop can be caused by hook worms/parasites. Easily remedied with a dewormer BUT if you do the monthly heartworm med, this prevents worms as well. Trust me, it's much cheaper to treat monthly, with less toxic chemicals that the 2-pill treatment has in it. I have a wormy dog.......it cost $150 for a vet visit, fecal and dewormer and a blast of toxins in it - where a monthly dose at $24 for a pill has much less toxins and costs less over a period of time. Sooo, as much as I hate to pump bad crap into my dogs, the monthly HW treatments really are better and healthier for the dog than a 2-dose fix.

My one dog who gets worms occassionally, will act not energetic as usual, will vomit, will poop blood and skip several meals over days. So, worms really affect him. Again, he is back on the monthly regiment of HW and flea and tick, as with all my dogs now. I only do the flea and tick every other month though as we are not in a high lyme area.

Thank you everyone. We went to the vet, no parasites, and he was prescribed some antibiotics and an anti vomit shot.
He seems to be doing better.
