blisters or rash on muzzle [pics]

This week Charly's muzzle has broken out in blisters or a rash on her muzzle, inside of the mouth looks fine. She's licking the rash alot, but it doesn't seem to hurt when touched. My wife washed her face last night, and Charly seemed to really like the cool water on it. She seems to be eating and drinking ok. She does go outside plenty, and occasionally digs and chews grass, but she's acting normal.

Searching here, similar comments got advice of using non-plastic bowls. Her's are plastic and I'll replace them tonight. Any other suggestions are welcome.

What did your wife wash Charley's face with? It's probably some kind of puppy acne. Find a mild acne wash and scrub her little chinny. Do this twice a day, especially after eating (food gets into the wrinkles and bacteria grows) for a week and it should clear up. To prevent it from coming back make sure to take a damp paper towel and wipe her mouth and jowels well after eating.

This was after the rash breakout, but it was just soap and water. We'll look into an acne wash.

It already looks better today, though. I got her new stainless steel bowls, and we'll start washing her face more often.

Barney had the same exact problem and the acne/rash looked exactly the same as Charley's. When we showed the vet, he was NO help and just said 'oh he's a boxer, he drags his face on the ground that's why'. Turns out he is allergic to ALL plastic. We already had stainless bowls, but we stopped using his kong (we use a hollowed out marrow bone instead), got rid of his nylabones, and anything else plastic. We also bought dog wipes (like babywipes but safe for dogs) and wiped his mouth down anytime we came back in from being outside. Also, neosporin helps to heal the rash faster. Just a little bit or he'll probably lick it all off! After all of this, Barney's face cleared up in about 2 days. Good luck!!

Related story. My boxer got out of my yard one night this past weekend and apparently found a skunk in his adventure because when I found him he smelled awful. But the worst part is that his muzzle and chin look exactly like Charly's most likly from the direct sulphur spray from the skunk to my boxers face. Luckily his eyes are fine.

Obviously Charly's face is a reaction from something. Wether it is a chemical burn or him scraping it on something, I cant say.
