Hi Everyone! I am a Boxer Mommy from WAY back. However, I have recently adopted a BLIND White Boxer Baby named Harley. Anyone out there have any helpful hints for me and my new baby! He is 2 years old and gets around GREAT just a little worried about the adjustments ahead for him and his new family!

We too adopted a blind boxer however he did at one time have sight. He had eye infections a previous owner did not treat. I think this made his transition in some aspects harder and in some aspects easier. Was your baby born blind? If so, you may have an easier time with adjustments. You will find that blind dogs live near-normal lives. Rule #1 is common sense, do not rearrange the furniture in your house or leave things laying around on the floor. Here is a list that was compiled on the blind dogs website that is very informative

And personally I recommend the book Living With Blind Dogs written by Caroline Levin. It is a wonderful book full of useful information. That would be a great place to start!

Here is a previous post with an inspirational poem I found that I know you'll love!

Thank you so much for your message! Well, I am not sure how long Harley has been blind. I work with the CKBR and they had him for sometime and I babysat for a weekend and the rest is history! All we know is that he is a DOLL BABY! It was LOVE at first sniff :)!!! I am going to be doing some major reading with all the information that you provided! Thank you sooooo much!!! I will keep you posted!
