Lucy has been fretful all day, wanting nothing more than to chew on something. She got hold of a pillow and when she chewed it she left blood all over it. When I checked her gums and teeth, I found that one tooth was blackish at the base and very loose--I think it was the source of the blood on the pillow. She's four months old and has lost several teeth recently, but I've never seen any bleeding before today... I gave her some ice cubes to chew on, that seems to have soothed her a bit.

Is this bleeding normal? I've never seen or heard of anything like this before. :(

Lucy is probably just losing her baby teeth. With Markus I would soak rope bones and freeze them. He seemed to enjoy chewing on them when his gums hurt. When his adult teeth were coming in, he would desperately want to chew on things.
