Has anyone ever seen a black boxer? I went to the SPCA walk-a-thon this Saturday. (We raised $192,000)YEAH!!! Anyway, we saw 2 small black boxer puppies. At a glance they kinda look like a lab. But they definatley have the docked tail, floppy boxer ears and that adorable face! These must be rare? They were so cute! Does anyone know anything about them?
Jazmine had a blast with all the dogs. There must have been like 500 dogs. Of course we had to visit ALL the boxers! There were a lot! She played, and had a blast. They also had a pet costume contest-it was great. I can't wait til next year!

The "black" boxer look is typically termed as "Reverse brindling". This is when the stripes are so dark that the dog looks almost black. I think it's just BEAUTIFUL!

Exactly what Jennifer said. Just wanted to add that's the kind of a boxer I am planning to adopt as soon as we have an apartment of our own. I just love this color!

I agree with Jennifer. when Amy, Linda and I all met last spring for the doggie dash , we seen a boxer that looked black. It was soooo funny because when Linda got her pictures back you could faintly see the stipes on the dog. But we all swore he was black.

We saw a beautiful flashy "black" boxer.
Cindy, Amy, and I stood there looking at this dog, swearing he was black, but saying there's no such thing.
In person, he was definitely black, but the photos did show some stripes. So, technically he was brindle.

By Harleys Picture, he seems to be a brindle, very cute though!! I have also seen what I thought was a black boxer before at a dog show, when I went up and spoke with the handler, the dog did have very faint brindle markings on his hocks only, that were visable. Beautiful dogs, but beware of anyone that tries to tell you that"Blacks" are rare, just like the whites, cause as far as I know, there are no such things as a black boxer. Buyer beware.

I saw a dog at the beach this summer, that indeed, looked like a jet Black Boxer. It turned out she was a Lab/Boxer mix. She looked exactly like a Boxer with white feet and chest - her tail had been docked. She *looked* just like a Boxer, but she *acted* like a Lab - just wanted to be in the water, swimming and retreiving.
She was 6 and had had 5 tumors in her life.

Thanks for everyone's reply. I guess there is no such thing as a "black boxer" I just have never seen one before. But what's werid is that these owners were calling them "black boxers". I guess they should learn a little more about the breed! (smile)

My Pru looked black as a puppy. A lot of people thought she was black. You could barely see stripes on her head and on her sides. As she got older her stripes spreaded apart more and now you can see the fawn background much better. Looking down on her though she still looks black. She has 4 white socks and white on her nose with the white blaze going up between her eyes. Her mother was white and her father was a very dark plain brindle. She is such a sweetie.
