:) Hi Everyone!

I am a new mom to Sadie, our 6 week old Boxer. This is our first Boxer and we love her, but how can I break her from biting us?
Ive read several things and we tell her "bad girl " in a strong tone,we try to walk away from her and ignore her, but nothing seems to work. I know she is going to bite and we have her TONS of biting toys.

Also - she cries to get in bed with us at nite. We haven't gotten a crate yet, but until then is there is suggestion on that? I have enjoyed this website so much. The suggestions for things have been very helpful.
I will appreciate any help with these two things.

God Bless

Hi - and Welcome to Boxerworld! :)

Your puppy issues sound pretty normal to me. We had a tough time getting our oldest not to bite us when he was little. Our younger pup is 4 months now, and it has been easier - because she has her big brother to chew on! However, aside from getting Sadie a big brother to bite, it will help to show her what to do *instead* of biting you. When she bites you, tell her "no bite" and very quickly give her a toy to chew on instead. It's not easy to break a puppy of this, and it takes time, but rest assured that she won't do it forever.

As far as her sleeping arrangements go, where is she sleeping right now since you haven't gotten her a crate? She is probably missing her fur family, and just isn't used to being alone. I'd really recommend that you get her a crate ASAP, and in the mean time do tons of reading up on how to effectively crate train. There are definite do's and don'ts. Even if done correctly, it can still take some time for the puppy to stop crying at night. Also, the pup will likely need to go out 2-3 times to go potty during the middle of the night. So plan on not getting much sleep for a month or two. Good luck, and I hope you will get some more suggestions.
