Hi,

I gave Snickers his first frontline treatment about a week ago now and I notice his ears are still being bitten by what I think are gnats. Does frontline not stop the gnats from biting him? And if it doesn't can anyone give some advice on what they would use to keep the gnats off or should I just contact my vet? Thanks alot

No it kills fleas and ticks that is it. I have been using something called Naturpet I believe it's sold only at PetCo, it's a spray that has tea tree oil, eucaliptus(sp?) and Citronella in it and has stopped the gnats and mosquitos from attaching to my dog. There's also Farnam Fly's off that repels flys, gnats, mosquitos among others that I have seen sold at PetSmart and PetCo both as well as online. You'd just have to spritz your dog during peak hours.

We've had a lot of gnats outside this year. I'm sure Sophie has killed a few. They don't bother her ears only her rear, so she sits on them. I know YUCK, but hey what's a girl to do with gnats, she could just drop one of those gas bombs she does in the house to clear the room.

Do the gnats actually bite them? There are tons of them at the dog park we go to and I've noticed that they swarm around the rear ends of the dogs there. Abbey will sometimes rub her butt on the ground to get them off, but I didn't realize they might actually be biting her.
