I live in Mass. My boxers love to be out in the back yard but for the past two months we've have biting flies. They will even bite us when we are out there. The dogs love to be in the backyard but I haven't been letting them outside because when they are out there they will have 5-10 flies on them biting them. They don't seem to mind it but I do so I bring them in. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there anything that I can put on the dogs to dissuade the flies from biting them. I'm hoping that we'll have a frost soon and the flies will dissappear. For some reason we get them at this time each year but not this many and not for such a long period of time.

I've found that when I eat lots of garlic, the flies don't like my "smell". LOL!

I also occasionally use the botanical OFF, rubbed on my furkids bellies and a little around their ears.

The OFF might not be good, I have not checked the ingredients for toxicity, but it seems to help my babies.

Good luck!

You might want to try Avons skin so soft. I know a lot of people use it for mosquitos on their fur babies. We do and it works great for us.

Use the Skin so Soft! In LA there is tons of mosquitoes! Our vet recommended it cause its safe and it doesn't irritate their skin. We were told that certain OFF products can be harmful to pets if digested so just be careful with it. You probably would need to bath tehm before they likced themselves! Good Luck

totally off the subject

When I read the header I was thinking something totally different because Magoo goes nuts chasing flies in the house. Of course he can never catch them but he often gets 4 paws off the floor high in the air going after the pesky things. Like I said totally off the subject, =)
