Hello to all,

My Candy is now 11 weeks old and likes to bite and chew everywhere. I know that this is normal to a puppy but I would like to know how long does it takes until she stops to do that? Anyone got any advices? I can't really train her since her attention is not at me, but is at the things that she likes to bite on, including my hand:mad: ... Anyone would like to share their experiences? thank you.

A Short Answer...

I had the same problem with Bosco, very briefly thankfully.

Here is the advice my trainer gave... Any contact of her teeth to your skin is absolutely unacceptable. Don't try to draw a line of "she's just playing" etc. When dogs cross the line with one another they yelp and the game stops. It may seem foolish, but when she bites you, yelp loudly and ignore her for a few seconds, leave the room if needed. She will quickly learn that this behavior removes the most important thing in her life... you.

When you catch her chewing on some item, replace it with a chew toy. Rope is great as it massages the gums and actually acts as a floss. When Bosco was losing his puppy teeth, he chewed on things constantly. It's not so much that she needs to chew your shoe, but rather she needs to chew on something.

These solutions are highly somplified. Hopefully, they will work. If not, I am sure that good advice will follow from this board and/or the link provided in a previous reply.

Good luck!
