Wow...who knew dog food could be such a big deal? We just rescued a 1-year old female boxer. The group that we rescued her from said she had been eating Bil-Jac. We wanted to minimize the number of changes since her home was already going to change...so we stuck with Bil-Jac. Now that I read www.dogfoodanalysis.com I see that Bil-Jac got a 1-star rating...not very good. We'll be switching her after this bag is gone...

Well, I think having kept her on the same food initially was a good idea - even if it was a low quality one. Being rehomed is a stressful enough experience, and sometimes a food switch straight away can just be one stress too many (for the same reason, baby pups should spend at least their first week on whatever the breeder was using - junk included).

But once she's well settled in, then upgrading to a better quality food is a very good idea :)

Thanks...I can always count on you for a quick response. I looked at dogfoodanalysis.com and wrote down a few to check on. I'm going to the pet store this weekend to see if they carry any of these. The ones I identified as possible candidates are:

Canidae
Natural Balance
California Natural
Timberwolf

Any other brands that you would recommend?
