I have a 6 month old boxer female and 2 toy poodles that are 14 years old and 6 years old. i crate trained both of my poodles with no problem but my boxer pup Roxy has been a bear. She poops in her crate and then tramples through it. And not only does she walk all through it, then it's spreads to each bar on the crate and even is thrown outside of her crate on my floor. *Thank god for tile and Mr.Clean* She has not done it for about a month and then yesterday morning she did it again. I've tried all different size crates thinking her crate was too big or too small. she is fed in her crate and praised in her crate. She is walked constantly so, I don't know what else to do.

How long is she in her crate?

We provide a crate large enough that if they have to poop they can get away from it BUT we are not having nor have we been having problems with poop and pee in the crate except for the first month to 1-1/2months (3 to 3-1/2 months old) when she was first put in the crate. She goes for nine hours now without messing - but we only put her in the crate when we leave the house and she is not fed in the crate.

I have crate trained Samson since we got him at 8 1/2 weeks and bought a crate big enough for him when he is full grown. I purposely bought a crate with a divider to give him just enough room to stand up and turn around. It sounds like your pup may have too much room if he is able to go and them tramp all around in it. Samson never had a poo accident in his crate but has peed once or twice when he's been in there longer than expected. I don't feed him in his crate so I'm wondering if this could be part of the problem? Samson gets fed in the morning when I get up and then my boyfriend takes him out before he leaves for work to poo - which seems to work out for us.

i've tried small crates and huge crates. i've tried timing her feedings and make sure she poops before we put her up. and like i said, for a month now she has been fine. two messes in the crate but she didn't touch it. yesterday morning was the first time in a while. i'm just afraid this is going to start all over again.

Is your pup doing any better with the crate? Mine was only pooing in his crate at night but not during the day. We gave up and now let him sleep in bed with us and he gets through the night fine. Now he has just started pooing in his crate during the day. It is just like yours where it gets in all the slots and out onto the surounding floor. What I just tried yesterday was locking him in the shower so at least we can clean it up easier and contain the mess. It is now below freezing here so we can't just take the crate outside and hose it off. I hope yours got past this. Mine is only 3 months so I know I have a long ways to go.
