My boxer is now 13 weeks old, we got him from a breeder at 8 weeks.
It's actually in our contract with the breeder that we would feed him Canidae.
He seems to enjoy it, he's more than doubled in weight and size since we brought him home, and the vet says he's doing great!
Mind you we also feed him a "Real" protien with his dinner as well. Either a steak or chicken breast chopped up with garlic & mixed in with his kibble. HE LOVES IT!!

Hope this helps

Personally we had MAJOR issues with Canidae after the formula change in my household and I have stopped recommending it to others due to all of the consumer complaints and pending lawsuits against them it just wasn't worth the risk IMO. I'd personally recommend Wellness, Solid Gold, Natural Balance, california Natural, Innova something along those lines.

Good luck

Im bringing my pup home in a couple weeks and I had the same question. Everyone has their own opinions based on their own dogs preferences but I think im going to try to go with wellness. My girl refuses to buy food online so I am looking for something healthy that I would be able to get at a petsmart/petco.

I don't think Petsmart carries Wellness but do try anyway. I fed Innova puppy food to my two boys and now have one who is over one year old and he eats Wellness Core Meat. I think the best thing to do is to go to dogfoodanalysis.com and look at the reviews of each brand. You'll be suprised to know that most every food that is sold in Petsmart is not good for your pups.

No they are not contracted with them so they do not. PetCo does carry Wellness.

The only decent food sold at PetSmart is Blue Buffalo. However she did mention PetCo and they sell Wellness, Solid Gold, Blue Buffalo, and Natural Balance which are all fine.

If you happen to have a Pet Supplies Plus in your area, that is a great store that carries plenty of the 5-6 star foods. A lot more flavor selections than Petco/Petstupid (oops, meant Petsmart). LOL

Also a lot of the pet boutique type stores carry the better quality foods. Nothing that a phone call won't answer.

I apologize I was referring to Petco in regards to the wellness brand. I have also read about trying to gradually introduce them into new food but I wasnt exactly ecstatic about seeing a bag of "diamond" at the breeders.

Wellness for puppy can be purchased from Petco. I really love Wellness. I fed her Wellness for Puppy when she was little and now I feed her the Super 5 mix. The Super 5 is an all life stages food so you could feed your baby that now.

I have not tried Canidae yet. But Blue Buffalo and Wellnes Super 5 mix. T-Bone loves the wellness. Blue gave him soft stools. Wellness changed that and i was happy. I would recommened it. I get mine at a Petland or PetWorld.
