My poor boxer gets frequent yeast infections in his ears. The Vet had him on MalAcetic hear cleaner. When his ears are really bad this usually helps but it may take over 1 week of daily cleaning. The only problem is that my dog doesn't like this ear solution. He shakes his head every 10 seconds for about 30 minutes and rubs his the sides of his head on the carpet. While I like the two acids in this product that supposedly helps kill yeast, I am wondering if there is another product that may work as well without irritating my dogs ears. I am also thinking that the acids in MalAcetic might not really be what is helping. It may actually be the frequent cleaning.

Does anyone have any recommendations on another great ear cleaner?

Here are the 3 other ear cleaners I am thinking about.

Virbac Epi-Otic
Zymox ear cleaner

Can't really speak for the ear cleaner... but I would note that chronic ear infections, particularly of yeast, are usually related to food allergies. Have you looked at changing diet or done an elimination trial to investigate that possibility? Whilst an ear cleaner can be helpful in the short term, for the longer term it makes a great deal more sense to target the cause rather than the symptoms :)

I agree with gmacleod, when Abby was getting ear infections to vet told me it was probably food allergies, he said generally food allergies are seen in the "ears and rears". Sure enough, we changed her diet and her ears cleared up. :)

I like malacetic for the yeast but my dog hates it also. The clinic I work at started using a product a few years ago called Douxo This stuff is great the ph is perfect( not as irratating) the smell is much more mild. It's an all around great product
