Belle was spayed yesterday and so far everything looks great. She is already getting back to acting like her self. My question is that our vet told us to make her wear the "E-Collar" for 10 days so she doesn't mess with her stiches, but our pet trainer told us to make her wear it at least 48 hours before taking it off and then just keep an eye on her. Does anyone have any advice or experience they can share? She hates that collar more than anything. I am home with her during the day so I could make sure she doesn't bother the stitches.

I didn't use one at all..I was here to keep an eye on her..just keep her "calm" for a day or two until the stitches start healing..if she isn't messing with them I wouldn't use the collar because it could stress her more..good luck and sending healing vibes..

Our vet didn't even send an e-collar home with us. Just said if she messes with them bring her back and we'll get an e-collar. She didn't mess with her stitches except to clean them, which surprised me!

With Nestle, they didn't even send her home with one either. When Porter was neutered, they gave us one and told us we can try it and if he hates it, bring it back. Needless to say, Port wore it about 1 minute before flipping out. As long as you keep an eye on Belle and she isn't messing with her stitches, she should be fine.

Well, we just took it off of her for a little bit and she was so relieved. She just sat down and started chewing on her Nylabone. We decided we will leave it off when we can supervise her and put it back on when we can't.

Thanks for your advice.

She will be fine! We tend to worry much more than they do, then we get the looks like what is wrong with you I'm fine! Sending healing vibes!
