We are starting our 3rd week of raw. We have been doing various chicken parts and have had great results. We are looking to start adding new sources this week, one variation at a time until we know what their tummies will take. I found some beef short ribs at the grocery store on sale. They are super meaty rib chunks (about 3/4 pound each) with a rib bone in it, about 4 -5 inches long. Are these okay to feed? I read somewhere that ribs should be fed as slab portions and I just want to be sure. If these aren't suitable then DH won't complain - he is eyeing them for the grill.

They are fine. Don't be surprised if he doesn't actually eat the bone, though he may eat part of it.

I've tried these with Mason and he will not eat the bones. Sometimes he won't eat the rib meat either - he can be a bit lazy from time to time.

I gave Jake and Jazzy a short rib the other day. They ate the meat and were chewing the bones, actually eating the bones. I noticed that the bones looked a bit splintery so I took them away. Could I have just let them finish the whole thing?

Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately, we will have to try the short ribs some other time. They were too tempting for DH and they ended up on the grill covered in BBQ sauce. I guess that's another benefit of raw when you're married to a carnivore, too.
