Okay, I really need help with this one! Our 4yr old boxer has slept with us (my husband and myself) in our queen size bed since he's been about 2yrs. Now that I am 5 months pregnant and getting bigger, I am burndened with the choice of "bed-breaking" Harley. This breaks my heart, but I have no other choice. Lately, sleeping has become a challenge. Can anyone offer some good advice on how to do this? HELP!

I don't have any advice to offer but am curious to see what others have to say. We too, not because I am expecting, but because we have two and space is limited wondering how we break our girl from sleeping in the bed.

After 9 years of sleeping on my bed...Lacey has adjusted very well to sleeping on her new doggie pillow/bed. She didn't sleep on it at first but, she finally gave in. I know she'd rather be in my bed but, I don't want her to hurt herself jumping down off my bed.
I know we hate to tell them "no" or "get down" but, they adjust.

If you have a space, would be a good idea to place a cosy armchair next to your bed so Lasey would sleep there, feeling you very close:)

Are we allowed to give the names of products we have had success with on this list? I have a dog bed for Mason that he loves and it has helped with "furniture breaking" him. We are looking into new furniture and we have had to teach Mason to use his bed instead of the furniture.

If someone can let me know if we can list the product, I will follow up with another post.

I had to do the same thing - it was just me when I got Dallas, so the bed was big enough for both of us. Once I got married, though, it just didn't work. I got a nice comfy doggie bed for Dallas and put it next to us. You basically just have to be "mean" and keep making them get down. It's not fun, and you'll feel mean kicking him out everytime, but he'll eventually learn and forgive you. It helps to lie down next to him on his bed for a little while and pet him and such. I hated going through this process, but now it doesn't phase Dallas much at all. I'll invite him onto the bed if I'm reading or watching TV (common for me before my husband comes to bed), but he's learned that once we are ready to actually go to sleep, he has to get in his own bed.

You can name the product and even list a link to a picture of it if you want. As long as it is a public website and the information at that website is readily accessible to the general public. No private sales or websites should be listed.

Oh good if I can name the bed, it is from Orvis, you can access at orvis.com. The bed is like a bean bag and Mason will run around in circles until he has "made" his spot - it is hilarious! It is the only bed he wants anything to do with.
They also make a 'tough chew' cover for dogs like Mason who abuse their beds. I have the regular one now and have had it since I got Mason so it has lasted 3 1/2 years. It is on the pricey side but all the cheap beds I have bought (roughly $25-) have only lasted a few weeks. The one I have now is about $60 (the 'tough chew' is about double) but even the regular one has lasted this long.
I've found since Mason actually likes his bed it is easier to keep him off the furniture. Good Luck!
